actually it isn't. and no one who knows the science behind it believes that it is either. (and calory, is actually a measure of heat energy, like btu's only smaller. its not like a gallon of gas, but more like how much energy that gallon of gas could potentially release under the right circumstances)
true enough as far as it goes, but that ten minuet walk doing anything about weight gain for most people is about 9/10ths myth too. if you eat the same crap all the time, that doesn't have something your body needs or wants, it will keep wanting you to eat it, and if you keep eating things that don't have what its asking for, then you'll just keep eating what it doesn't need, and that's what it turns into fat. not saying that eating diversely enough is the whole answer either, every body processes what it consumes differently, and even demands different things.
may be so, but if the congnative function is already there first, any distraction from it, like time taken to exercise, is an annoying distraction from it. at least it is to me. then again, i'm not THAT overweight. and i do combination of walk and ride public transit everywhere. haven't driven or owned a car for almost 20 years.
A talk by Jeffrey Friedman on the biological basis of obesity. His group discovered leptin in the 1990's which was critical to understanding how the brain controls body weight. Some of the facts he presents in the talk are unexpected, such as obesity being determined by genetics to the same extent as body height. The Biologic Basis of Obesity - YouTube
sorry, but its your bullshit that's the bullshit. humans are welcome to hate logic, but the universe we all live in, isn't very impressed by anyone's doing so.
