That darn indefinite article 'ein'. I have solidarity with Frankfurt. In the spirit of Kennedy, Ich bin ein...
the first german jews were banished from holland in 1582. hope that helps with your eons.ha! ha! and i know what eons means, but thanks anyway.
On the contrary, a lot of Jews actually came to the Netherlands in that period, because it was accepting of many different views and beliefs. For example Spinozas family was originally Portugese, but sought shelter in the Netherlands to escape the Inquisition.
Maarssen, by the way, is a Dutch village. I am sure at some point some Jews were expelled. As were Catholics. And others. What point were you trying to make?
my point is that the vast majority of dutch people colaborated with the occupiers.the trains of dutch railways staffed by dutch employees transported the jews to camps in the neitherlands which were transit points to the death camps in auschwitz.
I think her point was... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJ882QYzr-M"]The Dutch - YouTube abought the coolest people I've ever met were Dutch though.
i see, or maybe this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8IASyXObhE&t=2m3s"]Man to Man with Dean Learner ep1 pt 2 - YouTube why can't i put youtube links to play from a specific time? i meant that to run from 2:03 anyway, yeah all the dutch people i know seem pretty cool, and most people i know who visit there are always impressed with hospitality/friendliness etc. Then again, they come from London, where conversation between strangers is practically a social taboo. This thread is confusing.
This thread is indeed confusing. It seems like even the OP has forgotten what it was about. Yep. The same could be said for pretty much every nation the Germans occupied. Probably on account of the whole "We'll kill you if you don't co-operate"-thing. But if complying with its German invaders makes a people German, you are still asserting that not only the Dutch are actually German. While that gets the English off the hook, it means that now the French, who were never German when the criteria was speaking a Germanic language, are also German! Along with a bunch of other European and African nations. OP, I'm sure it would clear things up greatly for many of us who are not quite on par with your intellectual capacity, if you would summarize exactly what you are trying to say.
Yeah that would help. if "german" means "speaking a germanic language" then German countries include: scotland england germany the netherlands denmark and also (if we include north germanic languages) greenland iceland Norway sweden Denmark (again, are they doubly german?) and quite a few more, no doubt. If by "german" we mean "collaborated with NAZI occupation" (which inevitably is the same as "were occupied by the NAZI's") then German countries include: Albania Austria Belgium belarus czech republic Denmark (triple threat!) estonia Greece guernsey hungary Italy Jersey and i can't be arsed to go on, but you get the gist, what does OP mean by "german"? clearly the definition OP works from is different from most.
What about Austria? They speak German. Real German! Well, Austrian German. But German, not "a Germanic language", actual German. Are they not Austrians? Same could be said for the Swiss, except they also speak Italian and French.
