since when is culture an autonomous phenomenon? american culture is the product of the diffusion and appropriation of thousands of cultures.

The reason you are racist is because you're unaccepting of certain other cultures because they're different and you feel that certain ones don't belong in your society. You're afraid that they're going to change the society around you. Perhaps you're essentially afraid of change and it manifests itself in racist thoughts/behaviour.

You mentioned that you don't like that immigrants bring their morals and ideals with them when they come here (wherever you are) because you think that they'll try to instill them upon society. How would that be any different than the changes politicians implement, or the personal changes of your own morals and ideals as you grow throughout life? No one is going to force you to adopt any beliefs or ideas that you won't have.

The population will change, but only in appearance. And what is appearance when it comes to most things? Face value, and it isn't a great way to determine the nature or value of something. I'm sure you've been judged before based on your appearance or based on face value.

Things will change as your life goes on. You can sit back and hide in a bubble acting like some Archie Bunker archetype, or you could accept the fact that things will change and start judging people based on something a little more meaningful and credible than their outward appearances and traits.

  7. I disagree. You can have a compulsive racist thought and still not be yourself inherently racist. I think racism should mean that you consciously take some measure to harm a person, mentally or physically, due to their skin color.

incorrect, friend. cognition is racist thought. conation is the actual act based on racism: discrimination.

People from all cultures are racist. People tend to forget that. Being a minority doesn't suddenly make you incapable of being racist.

I tend to fall into the opposite camp in which I don't consider my own culture especially likable.

Oddly enough change was easier to accept in the past because it was usually just one group at a time like the I-ties, the Irish, or the Germans, but now it’s dozens of ethnic groups who are descending upon us like locusts

  12. If you're saying that a person who inherently isn't racist can have racist thoughts, then you might as well go a step further and say that because racism exists at all, we're all constantly having racist thoughts, all thoughts being effected by a racist society.

I mean, there's a discrepancy. You can think something without believing it. I could think, "The sky sucks." I just did. I love the sky...nothing's changing that. I might appreciate it even more now.

no, that's not what i was saying.
i was saying that you don't necessarily have to act on your racist thoughts to qualify as racist.

You find yourself being inherently racist sometimes because you appear to be inherently racist.

I hate my neighbour. She's a vile person. I'd love to break her face. Why don't I? Because I have a family to think about and unforunately I have to think about hers. I also have a career and a clean criminal record to think about too. Doesn't stop me from wanting to cut a bitch.

Just because people aren't violent with their opinions does not mean they're not racist.

Racism is already a word. If you need a term for someone who harms people mentally or physically because of their skin colour then try and pick one that doesn't already have a meaning. What you think is irrelevant.

This is an easy one. Those thoughts in your head. Yeah, those racist ones you have on campus are not your thoughts. That is a by product of conditioning that has been shampooing your mind since birth. It's nothing you came into the world with.

I get you. I'm the same way. I hate it.
