I see this a lot on TV and movies, but in real life...I don't see it. I know there are "gold diggers" men and women alike these days...and since women are making more than men, more often these days, I see a lot of "gold digging" men, but I wouldn't say these are real, serious, mature relationships that would in any way lead to marriage, in most cases. I think it's not strange though, to imagine for more conservative types, listening to their mothers and grandmothers, who were alive in the time where women weren't supposed to work, that some of those women might have a hard time wrapping their heads around the idea of not being dependent on their men. Still, I don't see it much, in real life.
I think the issue here is the perspective.. you get marry because of LOVE and that you LOVE your wife and children that you are sharing your wealth to them and be a responsible adult. on the side, LOVE for money is the root of all evil.
