why do people bug about heroin and not oxycontin?

What is scummy and low about Heroin, that isnt about Marijuana, cigarettes, eating too much, or doing anything else that our mindless society has attached a stigma to? Are you judging all heroin addicts based upon movies like The Basketball Diaries and Trainspotting? I mean come on, seriously. Sounds like to me you are pushing your own insecurities onto those who use opiates.

It really bothers me that when heroin is brought up, heroin addicts on a general level are treated as something they simply cannot be generalized as. Its like, when a heroin addict or heroin user is brought up, they are automatically "scum" and ALLLLLLL the other scum on the world, the scum pot smoker, the scum coffee drinker, the scum corporate slave, the scum television watcher..the scum HUMAN BEING just magically disappears! A corporate executive who has the money to fuel his habit would not be viewed as a scum junkie, but someone who doesnt have the money to fuel his habit and borrows or whatever else they have to do...IS scum...but why? Not because he uses heroin, but because hes stealing, robbing, etc...and people not on dope do this. I mean the perceptions people have never cease to amaze me. Its...dumbfounding really. Dope and hard drugs have effected there life in one way or another there is not dout about that.

I will talk and bull shit about Herion and other drugs all day long with people who use and like getting high, I just wish Kids and people who have never fucked around with it and are think about using would see the real picture of what can happen, I really wish if someone was never tried Herion or hard opiates that they never would.

 

Weed and food are also a lot cheaper, and more readily available than heroin for many, many people. Addiction, while they all have different side effects, is still addiction. I am a heroin addict. My lifestyle is in NO WAY similar to either of those movies. in NO WAY. Most of the people I know, are also heroin addicts and their lives are also in NO WAY like either of those movies, even the ones who have been on heroin long term (by long term I mean 7+ years). I am not making arguments FOR heroin use. What ive been saying all along is very, very simple. You cannot make generalizations. Not everyone fits into your little stereotypical box.

Ive been a heroin addict for three years and fortunately I make enough money to support my habit [edit] and I have a decent connection. And no, I dont blow or fuck or anything like that to get dope. Been engaged for about..eh...8 months, been with the same guy for about 4 years, known him since I was 13. Typical boring shit.

 

And, no, no one in my circle of friends has ever had heroin impact their lives in a negative way or pawned or stole. I have known people who have...mostly intravenous users, im not sure if theres a correlation...dont know. Im not saying it doesnt happen, I certainly know it does..my father was a dilaudid addict for 25 years and robbed me and my mother blind. Nope. Not yet, im not a psychic so I cannot predict the future, however I am self employed which may help out a huge bit. I dont have a 9to5 so I dont have to work for anyone but myself. That could have a huge thing to do with being able to hold down a job but my fiance works a "normal" job and has for...years on opiates, my father worked the whole time he was on opiates..shit..the dope addicts I DO know all work even if its just working to get money to get high. Heroin doesnt cost a lot for me..so..its really not such a big deal.
