that etymology is actually a myth. it has little, or no basis in fact.

and if she goes into a coma, you don't get to have a part in medical decisions, her family makes those, so even if you know she wanted to keep going, if her family feels like she wouldn't, and they choose to pull the plug, well, tough luck.

And if they didn't like you, you could be shut out of her last days as well as her funeral.

I am next of kin, which is good because his family is kind of retarded...they don't believe in our son's Autism for a start...

Also, as a stay at home mom, if he left, I'd need something to live on, since we both agreed that having me at home was best.

Without marriage, I'd need to prove the kids were his before I had to fight tooth and nail for anything...as it stands, the law assumes they are his and HE would have to prove otherwise.

Really, though, I don't worry that he's going anywhere, he's very loyal and honest.

    How many women?

Telling people to free themselves as long as they choose your path is hypocritical.

I imagine they think it is like RainMan...I don't think they have ever studied it, but they don't believe he has it. The last time we talked about it my mother in law tried to tell me it was probably a food allergy.

This is a woman who taped a banana peel to her hand in order to treat a wart...

did she use duct-tape? because that actually would have worked.

(I'm serious, there was a study, duct tape really does help warts, dunno about banana peels)

Why do people get married? I think it depends on the couple involved.

For me, I was in love and wanted a solid commitment. I wanted to be known as Mrs. So-and-So, I wanted to have his babies, grow old with him, and have the respect that tends to come with the title of husband and wife.

My husband and I lived together before we got married and it was amazing how people looked down on us for it. I mean, it was like our relationship was dismissed as nothing serious, we were simply boyfriend and girlfriend, therefore we held no real ground. It really bothered me, right or wrong.

Funny though, it's not like the legal piece of paper changed our relationship at all. We were still the same people, we were still in love and commited to one another. But for me, getting married was important. Just how I felt.

I'd totally get married for a greencard if there weren't so many strings attached.

The etymology of the word Fuck and its many bacronyms is fascinating and in my opinion underscores how man kind can take a questionable word and call it evil/provocative in the name of god because of its uncertain meaning.

Fuck is the most versatile word in the English language. It is the only word that can be used as a verb, (transitive and Intransitive), a noun, an adjective, an interjection and an expletive infix.

Fuck today is largely considered to be an offensive profanity but was considered to be an acceptable word as late as the 17th century and as early as the 16th century in England. The origin and complete etymology of the word Fuck is un certain because of its common use in every day speech than in traceable written documents but the first known occurrence was written in a poem entitled, "Flen Flyys" sometime before 1500 composed in a mixture of Latin and English. The line containing Fuck in it originally reads, "Non sunt in coeli, quia gxddbov xxkxzt pg ifmk". Take away the substitution cipher and it translates to, "they are not in heaven because they fuck the wives of Ely". Sources suggest the phrase was coded because of its meaning and was uncertain to what extent the word fuck was considered to be acceptable in society.

Un true etymologies of the word Fuck are my favorite. Fuck is a backronym or a bacronym as opposed to an acronym because acronyms for Fuck were never heard of before the 1960s and the word Fuck has been used for more than a millennium so it is likely that all of the bacronyms for the word Fuck are un true.

    * F.U.C.K. - Felonious Unlawful Carnal Knowledge

    * F.U.C.K. - For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (A couple caught committing adultery the word "FUCKIN" is used to denote the crime)

    * F.U.C.K. - Forced Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (This indicates Rape)

    * F.U.C.K. - Fornication Under Consent of the King (This indicated in England during the middle ages you could only have intercourse if the King first gave you permission. A sign displaying, "F.U.C.K." would be displayed on the door so they would not be disturbed while in the act of fornicating under consent of the king)

    * F.U.C.K. - Fornication Under the Christian King (This one is obviously my favorite)

You don 't need a marriage license to avoid that problem, you need only draw the papers before hand.

Sorry but it seem odd to me that hippies think that the government can give them what they do not already possess.

    Life insurance
    Wills
    Children

You can accomplish all these with private contracts.

    Peace

Because of religious practices it's portrayed by society that when you are in love with someone the next step is to 'get married' and then be fruitful and multiply.

It's one of those over rated concepts.... that's how I feel about it to be honest.

From my experience I haven't seen a relationship, or marriage at that works out better then having a 'partner' under agreement.

Most people I have seen get married hop on it fast, I'm sure they are also the same people who would pick shitty tattoos because they thought they were cool at the time and actually call the infomercials when they say 'act now', 'limit supply'.

I think most of it has to do with insecurity issues.

Yea, most of the couples I have seen that have gotten married seem to be afraid to lose the other person in fear they can not do better, or they will be left lonely... or they have issues with people trying to break up their relationship... so they get married to show them they mean it damnit!

I mean, relashionships are really a agreement between two people.

Some agree to do others (swingers)
    Some have jealousy issues...
Some make the rules and just run with it.

    Eh.

Marriage is for people with issues, unless it's for something actually legal, like getting a green card or something. Even so there is something tied to it other then 'death do us part' uniting type shit.

Wow. If people don't want to get married, then they shouldn't. No need to be bitter about other people's decisions. I'll get married 50 times if I feel like it, it shouldn't have any bearing on your world.

And how is "drawing up the papers" any different than signing a marriage certificate MrDude...tomato, tomahto...

which are still notarized and recorded by an agent of the government, and have to be recognized by the government, and written in the format of that government's laws to be recognized

so you are taking needless extra steps to do something that would have been accomplished by a marriage certificate.

    that's foolish

you also triple posted (at least) which is against forum guidelines, when you either could have read the thread, or edited your original post, or multiquoted.

    that's just lazy

which, it looks like your research also was.
