You are the one who pretends there is some guy in the sky who guides you, so who is really the big pretender here?

Actually, those words don't really mean the same thing, but okay.
I am not the big pretender because I really believe and have faith.

Pretentious comes from pretending and you are pretending, even if you are brainwashed into believing it is the truth.

Because any intelligent and reasonable person would understand that religion is rediculous. It's a fairy tale for grown ups, to keep the masses quiet and obedient. Historically it's one of the main reasons for wars.

While hippies do like fairytale worlds, they don't like wars.

I think I'd like to get married one day. I don't know, it's just a word, or a piece of paper.
I'd do it my own way though soooo it probably wouldn't be defined as a marriage at all. It'd most likely be very secluded and strange Saxon practicing pagans would have something to do with it probably climaxing with a group orgy on top of the Externsteine and OMG I can't believe I filthed up my site of worship.

I understand not believing in God and or religion but what I don't understand is the hate that comes with not believing. Hate maybe a little strong but why do you put so much time into not believing and trying to convince believers that they are fools.

Die hard atheists are just as bad, if not worse than die hard Christians.
At Christians bible bash positivity in a way, atheists are all depressed losers with nothing better to do than internet troll because they appear a lot smarter through text on a thread than they do when they dribble the bullshit IRL.

I'm atheist/agnostic and I don't think I'm a depressed loser. I don't hate anybody for their choices and I don't think I have said anything hateful on here towards religion. I don't agree with it. I have strong opinions about it but I try really hard not to bash anyone else for their life choices. I don't lump everyone together saying that ALL Christians are this or ALL atheists are that. There are exceptions to every rule.

The way I look at it is SOME believers use religion as a crutch. They think that they can do anything and treat people any way they want because they can pray for forgiveness and everything is fine. Do whatever you have to do to be able to sleep at night. If you need to be forgiven for being an asshole then by all means, pray away because you obviously need it. I try to live my life in a way that I don't feel like I need to be forgiven for anything. I answer to nobody but myself and I try to treat everyone with the respect I would like back.

I choose to work with a girl that is a die hard catholic. We have worked together closely for over 10 years. We get along just fine because we have agreed to disagree. We respect each others choices. We had to go to Chicago for a conference and she wanted to go to catholic mass. I knew she would get lost walking to the church so I walked her there and went to starbucks and sat while she was at mass. I think that should win me the "not a depressed loser" award. I don't know too many atheists that would walk there catholic coworker to church.

    Thank you :2thumbsup:

It seemed like she was kind of lumping us all together with that "ALL" comment. Just because she has something personally against one person that's not really fair to lump everyone together. I was trying to show her that there are exceptions to every rule and blanket statements like that aren't really a fair assessment of a group of people. I'm not trying to pick a fight.

I've never believed in god and I think the jesus story is a bunch of bullshit. I don't know how much more diehard you can get. I'm just not an asshole about it to people.

Then you're just an atheist and not die hard.
Die hards are assholes about it and come across just as frustrating as the die hard Christians do. I don't even talk to atheists. They annoy me, they never appear to have anything to say other than something disrespectful about religion or something. That's just my observation, I'm sure I know atheists but I don't talk about it around people because there's a shit load of more interesting stuff to talk about than beliefs in nothing.

The same can be said about atheist views as far as I'm concerned.
