why do people hate hippies?

I have never met a hippie hater, mainly because hippies are accepted over here...

 

i think it's because they don't know what a hippie really is. they think we're all dirty potheads. but it's also more that they just don't like change. they don't like people who go against what society wants to make us. i think it's mostly that they're jealous of how we can be so peaceful and loving to everyone even if they piss us off.

 

Yesterday whille I was walkin to class I seen this kid with a anti hippie shirt on ... wtf is that about ? Why are people soo ignorant... Why do people have to be so negitve and judgemental? why cant we all just stop being immature and get along with eatchother and except eatchother for who we all are!!

In generalities, humans have a tendancy to look for things to hate. It makes them feel big. We are all pretty helpless here, and so hating makes us feel not so helpless. And because hippys tend to be peaceful and a bit outside the law, that makes them real easy targets. Many people grow up being taught ignorance. This comes out as hatred of anything different from you.

I do not blame people for saying they hate hippys. They probably don't have enough actual experience with hippys to make that judgement. Like saying you hate all blacks, or all indians, or all mexicans, or all muslims... It is just ignorant talk and means nothing, really. It's alot like saying I hate spinach. Wrong color, doesn't smell right, tastes funky. Hate it.

AND there are an awful lot of people out there who look like hippys, and to the uneducated seem like hippys. But there are bad apples in every barrel, and I could just as easily say I hate straights. It means nothing at all. Hippycrites . There are lots of them. They think just because you look like a hippy and smell like a hippy (petouli, sage, woodsmoke and sweat), that you ARE a hippy. Unfortunately an AWFUL LOT of people who appear to be hippys are just bums. And ignorance sees those bums and lumps them all together with the good folks and labels them ALL hippys, and then hates us all. It's just stupid.

 

You see people with anti emo, anti punk, anti geek shirts on, It's all because of this Fashion war.

It like, I your a 'goth', you can't talk to an Emo......

 

For the same reason Republicans dislike Democrats and visa-versa.
hippies have a different belief in what the world should be, and many disagree with it.

hate is such a strong word-some are just not used to the different lifestyles of today and yesterday-some are just afraid of well what is the word i'm thinking of well since i'm loaded they are scared of what's different to them on a daily basis? there did i say that right correct me of i'm wrong

 

yeah. if everyone would just accept everyone else for what they believe or what they stand for, then it'd be a more peaceful world. *sigh* but we gotta start somewhere. eventually those of us who are tolerant of others will influence more people to live like that. patience, i guess.

 

i think they hate us because they're jealous. my theory is that if u hate someone, it's because of who they are, and what they do. you find it so beautiful that u cant get over it. u create jealousy because u want to be that way as well, but dont know where to begin

 

I have a theroy that in places where people see difference every day, they get used to it and love it. On the other hand, when people live in a society where they don't see as much different people, they can't understand it and hate it!

We see this everywhere, but most notibly in the young.....

Emo kids are idiots though, they cut themselves just to be " cool ", and since both my parents are doctors I told one Emo kid to cut from his wrist up his arm instead of across, cause that's the way to kill yourself.

I hate most hippies, notice, MOST, because I hate the " turn the other cheek " phylosophy and because I strongly believe war solves many problems and human life is expendible in many cases.

I have cool hippie friends who're just lazy asses and smoke pot, I don't hate them cause all they stand for is freedom to have a good time, why I don't like hippies is because most hippies bitch about this and that and I always tell them to shut the fuck up cause they're a bunch of pussies cause so far not one hippie has ever even tried to shut me up, so that just shoots my respect for them down the toilet.

Turning the other cheek is good for a while, up to the point where someone is truely hurting someone. It's good for your karma and not so good for the other guys karma... Hey, all human life is expendible. Including yours. But some folks actually LIKE to be alive! So, please enlist. That way someone who does not believe in war does not have to go get killed.

Lazy ass "hippys" are NOT cool. Mater of fact if you are a lazy ass, you are not really a hippy. So someone has to beat you up to gain your respect??? And just what is your respect worth exactly? I bet I know a few hippys, not lazy asses, who would be happy to shut you up...

 

ji to all i believe that others hate hippies beccause they dont want to see themselves as conformists. hippies showed that and they hated the for that reason. hippies arent dirty. u are dirty in mind( a message to conformists)
