I knew a kid who claimed to be a neo-Nazi and would spout off all this anti-semitic bullshit to anyone who would listen. When I pointed out that he was Spanish, and therefore would have been killed by the SS under Hitler's regime due to racial impurity, he emphatically denied it. So really what it boils down to isn't educating people or enlightening them, if someone has an irrational fear/hatred of something, no amount of common sense will break through that wall. That's why we define it as "irrational." I have met Jewish people I have liked and I've met some Jewish people that I couldn't stand, it didn't have anything to do with the fact that they were Jewish, it had to do with the people individually. Same as any other race, there are people you like and people you don't. I tend to base my thoughts of people based on WHO they are, not WHAT they are. And I expect to get the same courtesy in return.

One thing I would like to say, though, is that my heritage is predominantly German and for the longest time, I was filled with self-loathing. All I ever learned in school about Germany was about the Holocaust and Adolf Hitler. I absolutely hated the fact that I was German and carried the blood of such awful people in my veins. It wasn't until I took the reigns and educated myself about Germany's history both before and after WWII that I realized I have nothing to be ashamed of. To this day, Nazism is what predominates most people's thoughts of Germany. When I wear my German flag necklace (given to me as a gift from my Aunt in Munich) I have people asking me if I'm a Nazi. No lie. :banghead: Adolf Hitler should never ever ever ever be forgotten, but he left a stain so deep that people now struggle to be proud of their heritage and that's very sad. Proud to be German in no way implies neo-Nazi.

Besides, I'd make a terrible neo-Nazi considering how much I love my Jewish boyfriend.

My friend's grandfather was in the German military during WWII (he was drafted, like many) but the man HATED Hitler with a passion. Likewise, I'm part German and don't think badly of Germany, or associate it with Nazis. People who think that Germany is still like it was in the Second World War are ignorant.

I don't judge germans. Thanks to Sophie Scholl. (and not being an idiot)
A german who stood up against her government to help educate other germans on the holocaust and how disgusting it was during the war.
    She was executed.

Regarding Hitler, there’s strong evidence to suggest that he was a homosexual and when he fought during WWI he had a lover

Why would it matter if he was gay or not?

    Actually, what she was saying is that by you saying;

You're generalizing Jewish people in that statement. Now, what is the real problem with racism; is it that it is hateful, or that it is a generalization? I'd say both.

Generalizing an entire group of people is just as ignorant as being a racist, and is more or less the same thing.

I like everyone. If it had been any other group, I would have said that they're nice too.

Sweeping statements (generalizations) about any group is ignorance. Some forms of ignorance take on racism, others take on blind faith, trust, etc.

I don't understand why either. I also don't understand why people are always saying gingers have no souls. People hatin' on minorities, I guess. I suposse if they're hating others because they don't want to love themselves, Or they don't know how to?
I find that I am incapable of hate toward people because 1) I love myself and who I am 2) The hatred of people puzzles me.

because it's funny. some people have this thing called a sense of humor, where they can actually feel good by saying something that they know is completely ridiculous and then laughing about it.

what does one have to do with the other?

I do find it funny, To an extent. When it's constant riddicule, and I mean constant it's not funny anymore. I have friends who are red headed and they are treated like blacks were before Martin Luther kind Jr. It's ridiculous.

They're bought and sold like livestock, chained to walls, called "boy" all the time and forced out of modern society?

God...I never knew the plight of the modern ginger was so terrible...

Its true. Whenever I go out in public with my ginger friends we can't eat in the same restaurants, sit in the same sections at the movie theatre, or drink from the same water fountains. All the gingers back when I was in school were forced to go to substandard schools across town to keep them away from people with normal hair and skin tones. Thank god, is what I always said...I didn't want their red hair rubbing off on me and contaminating my unborn babies.

Hating jews (or any one type of person) is just much easier for some than looking within themselves and seeing what needs to be changed.

I don't understand it either. I don't hate people, I hate PERSONS. That being said, the 2 people in my life who have really fucked me over with money happened to be Jewish. Take that as you will.
