NIGEL FUCKING FARAGE, MOTHER FUCKER! I did not mean that aggressively, more like an in-your-face "x-treem" advertising slogan. Formerly of UKIP, now a European version which is often affectionately referred to as EUKIP! midgardsun made a thread about him in the "people" forum. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eut7XsBa_Hk
Well said... Below ... this is NOT about Ron Pall - but INSTEAD about people who think like him - the Libertarians and Republicans who lean Libertarian - since they are AGAINST a NATIONAL SINGLE PAYOR HEALTH PLAN (i.e. what Dennis Kucinich Advocates). And, sometimes, the basis for the Libertarian Anti-War beliefs is their paranoid fears of Jews and of Israel. That does not sell out here on the left coast. where we have many Jews who are Liberals and ALSO anti-war. And, sometimes, folks like Pall are Christian Fundamentalists, and therefore Anti-Gay-rights. Again, that doesn't sell on the west coast where we have many in the LGBT community. And, they are often Anti-Union. Again, that doesn't sell well in pro-union states out west. Someone like Ronn or his son Rand Pall could never get elected for President because they wouldn't get any support in California, due to the Unions, gays, Jews, ... and those who want Kucinich's Single Payor medical plan (versus Obama care, which we don't want, because it doesn't go far enough). That said I agree with these guys and the tea partiers about less regulations. However, I do not think they are progressive enough to develop in a green manner. For example - why not start using our 100 year natural gas supply in Alaska to run our cars? I will vote for Kucinich if he runs again!:sunny:
Because you'd have to convert a damn lot of cars and then then gas supply would not last 100 years. It's probably not a 100 year supply anyway, the people that estimate these things never treat it as the exponential sum that it should be treated as. As for the rest of your post - man, that is a load of political bullshit. I thought one thing people like Ron Paul were after was the power given to states/districts to act how their denizens choose them to act? So it wouldn't truly matter who's rights are affected by who is president as the regulations would have been determined by locality, surely? And whose propaganda have you been absorbing?
Ronn and Rand Pall are of the Libertarian, Far Right breed of politicians. They have a following from anti-Semites, homophobic creeps, White Supremacists, and those who are against National Health Care. And, they don't like Unions and don't support the environment. Someone like the Palls would never get elected on the west coast since the left coast is very far to the left on these issues. We have domestic supplies of natural gas that do not have to be imported. The safety issues need to be cleaned up and then we can use it instead of importing it from unstable regimes in the Middle East.
Ron Paul believes property rights protects the environment more than anything. What if you could sue someone for polluting your property? Instead, now an EPA guy comes out with and clip board and collects soil samples and decides what the violations are and what is considered acceptable standards when indeed a company is polluting the land and only the government collects any funds. The public has no way of actually knowing if the EPA gets any under the table pay offs from people in power. Just because the EPA fines a company does not necessarily mean they will stop polluting or that you will get any compensation. If your constitutional rights were intact individuals would not be the losers when it comes to the pollution game. I think the entire population of Louisiana ought to receive big payment from BP oil for the disaster that happened in the Gulf do you think the people down there are receiving much compensation? Hell no they are not. Do you think the seafood down there is safe now? If there were not so much cronyism BP would be out of business. Ron Paul talks about the free market is a much more powerful regulator because bad business go bankrupt instead of getting a bailout from the public fund.
ALL politicians are far-right now, no other politics is able to function, especially in America. Not sure if you can really be libertarian and far-right, though. Have you seen this following of anti-semites et al? Or were you told that these people have followings like that by the mass media and payed opinion givers? Because last time I checked CLINTON, BUSH and OBAMA have all received support from those sorts of people. You seem to be saying that one of the few major players in US politics who is overtly anti-war would be beaten by the pro-war candidates? Why? PROPANGANDA, that's why. This puts me in mind of parties like UKIP. The papers said they were racist so all the ignorant dull-minded general public echoed that and said they were racist, too. "BAA BAA" they said. Thing is, it was impossible to find any racist policies for evidence or any racist actions by UKIP members, apart from some slightly bold statements by one-time member Kilroy Silk which could have been construed to seem racist, which of course THEY WERE by the papers. For god's sake, UKIP had and still has Asian and black members, even MPs. Ridiculous. Seriously, do you actually know anything about Ron Paul and his policies or are you just echoing what other people have told you?
I was under the impression you could. Anyhow, no one owns the atmosphere so as much as I'd like to sue the local coal plant for smogging up the air and contributing to global warming, I can't. The environment didn't even exist when the constitution was made.
Most of the people I know are excited about Paul for this reason. A better reason would be that he wants to do away with the Fed. Having said that, Ron Paul scares the hell out of me for other reasons - the biggest is his isolationist views on foreign policy. I like the fact that he wants this country to stop policing the whole damn world, but diplomacy and alliances need to be preserved and strengthened. We've caused many nations to become dependant on us and it would be irresponsible and dangerous to suddenly become isolationists. I can guarantee that he won't get the GOP's nomination because the GOP is more scared of Paul than they are of Obama - and anytime the GOP is scared - that's a good thing.
The John Birch Society is an ultraconservative right wing organisation and promoter of dodgy conspiracy theories, which once called President Eisenhower a communist and wants to repeal civil rights legislation, which it sees as being Communist in inspiration. Ron Paul said of them "The John Birch Society is a great patriotic organization featuring an educational program solidly based on constitutional principles. I congratulate the Society in this, its 50th year. I wish them continued success and endorse their untiring efforts to foster 'less government, more responsibility ... and with God's help ... a better world.'" And he’s on records as saying that he doesn’t know how many positions they would have that he wouldn’t agree with.
They don't want to repeal it, they were just filled with racist assholes just like every other political party during the civil rights movement, save a few. Individual rights, protecting rights under the constitution, dismantling the federal reserve and opposing the 'new world order' are mostly what their about. Doesn't sound too sketchy to me, granted I would never join a group I didn't know EVERYTHING about. Which is impossible for anybody to do anyhow.
WOW You found something bad about him! Now think about Obama at AIPAC and plenty of other conferences. Hmm, Obama's stuff sounds worse to me! Can you provide any links to these allegations on the John Birch society? That's a side I'ver never heard about them, to be honest.
Must I’m not a Obama fan, so throwing him at me doesn’t work, we are talking about Ron Paul, a right wing libertarian nutter. As to the JBS just google it and you’ll find loads on them and their dodgy ideas. I mean they are believers in the ‘long conspiracy’ that some type of elite shadow government is trying to create a New World Order that will stripe the American people of its ‘freedoms’. Funnily enough the irony is that they have in the past championed the removal of ‘freedom’ (in the US and elsewhere) in the cause of fighting ‘communism’ which to them seemed to be anything that wasn’t ultra right wing.
He's kind of a cool maverick, and he does what he says he will do...he's honest, a quality not often found in a politician.
