Pages? I've maybe about 5-6 posts on a thread with 79+ total. Thanks for your diagnosis though, Dr. Phil...[IMG]

Since when is a little debate on a topic a symptom of something unhealthy? The topic is "why do people post anti-religion posts here?" what would you expect? Maybe a bunch of christians dishing on why you think us heathens don't like christianity - you know we love the world and our sin so damn much, just ask the bible! [IMG][IMG]

Yeah, because, you know, it only says about 1,000 times that we're going to hell to burn and be tormented for an eternity because we don't believe.

Sera, I'll keep a seat cold for you, OK?

The bible doesn't really say that, apart from a verse or two in revelation, and I think that Paul said some similar things though I could be mistaken. Who says that is the whaked out hateful fundi freaks, like these people http://graphics.jsonline.com/graphics/news/img/jan06/soldiers010706.jpg

Send them email here (well not email really, more like a guestbook thingie that they treat as email). Their responses are hilarious. http://www.godhatesfags.com/main/contact.html

Anyhow, Jesus never mentioned the burning and torture (because it's a load of bull) but it is essentially an adaptation by the early medieval church of the GASP!!, pagan Greek and Roman hades though it had other pagan sources as well. We'll never hear about Christians having "stolen" that one from the pagans now will we.

It all goes back to Nicea in 325. That's where Christianity made it's bad turn. And now, Constantine's empire is in it's last days, brought to financial ruin by it's own deception and deceit.

It's kind of like Nixon being in office for 1700 years and then watergate suddenly fell out of the sky. I for one am enjoying it. My question is, what will eventually replace Catholicism?

Did anyone mention the fact that 10% or so of priests and ministers are pederasts? It's the perfect position for them to have power over other ppls children, without supervision.

Know any altar boys? Bet they have some good stories.

Yup, Christians have allowed this to go on in their churches for centuries. In fact it's pretty much institutionalized as proven by the code of silence that was maintained until recently.

So now they get to pay big-time for the injustices of their own clergy.

Too bad most of the focus is on the Catholic Church. This kinda shit goes on in most every church. Church=secrecy=abuse. Just like Bush=secrecy=abuse. The more secrecy there is, the more they're covering up the truth.

Yup, really makes you respect "the church", don't it?

And think about this... Everytime you tithe, you're supporting the abuse of children by someone. So YOU are just as responsible as those who commit the crimes without being brought to justice.

Time to leave the Churches behind, leave the organized religion behind, leave the abusing padres, leave the lies and secrets behind, leave the hypocrisy behind.

If you've found Christ, fine. Keep him to yourself and your family. If you try to prostelitize the children of others, you're likely to be tarred with the same brush as those abusers, so forget it. Live & let live & leave the hypocrites to their fate.

Another big problem with Christians (and muslims) is their unending reliance upon illogical circular reasoning. Everything comes back to the "bible" or "koran". So if you corner them about how illogical or fantastic some part of their ideology is, they always say "well it's in the bible/koran, so it must be true".

You don't even need to get into how both those books have been altered by religious leaders for political ends over the centuries.

It's their unending "faith" in the righteousness of their religion that is sickening. You can never win an argument with them because the always fall back on the "book". No matter how illogical their argument.

    Things like:
Virgin Birth (Yup, science stands on it's head)

Ressurection (Hell I believe in that, but if it's true why didn't he hang around longer?)

72 Virgins (where the fuck do they all come from, or does every muslim martyr have to share those same 72?)

Walking on water (Just read where scientist said this might've been due to the water freezing - an extremely rare, but possible scenario)

Where the fuck was Jesus for his first 30 years (big secret, playing ninetendo with Tibetan lamas, no doubt!)

Sin (can't lay a guilt trip on ya without it)

Satan (evil bastard who looks just like pagan gods of nature - good gods, but pagan so must be bad for Xtians)

Hell (oh yeah, mustn't forget the place you must avoid at all costs. Wait a minute, where EXACTLY is this supposed to exist? Heaven's basement or what? Can I get a GPS reading? What's the URL? They must have a website, no?)

Heaven (yeah, you fucked up the one god gave ya - Earth) So you gotta believe there's another somewhere - Newsflash! - There ain't! This is it. Take it or leave it, if ya got a ticket to another. The concept of Heaven has allowed Xtians and Muslims to trash this planet, without remorse. Now it's doomed, and you think this means we're facing the apocalypse. Well ya coulda turned it around, but your religion got in the way... Now it's too late and you're just lookin' for excuses.

    Time to...

GET REAL, People! Have a little faith in humanity and in yourself. You can believe in God, that's fine. We are all one at some level (we are all made of stars!). But you don't need religion to believe in a life lived ethically and morally right, respecting others.

Organized religions would have you believe otherwise.

You MUST join our church or you're doomed. THIS IS A LIE!
Other faiths are not the way, only ours. THIS IS A LIE!
Heaven or Hell are your only options. THIS IS A LIE!

And on and on the lies just build upon each other, and yet you have FAITH in these LIES! It's appalling!

Some Christians and Muslims have greater faith in books than in the experiences that God has granted them.

They don't want to accept that their little idea of reality is incorrect. One time I argued with an older carpenter, thinking I was correct, when all along he was right about the way to calculate a certain measurement (I had taken some trigonometry at the time, and was basing my argument upon what I learned in a book, he was a carpenter with high school education (no trig) who had life experience). It's about paying attention to life.

Even you must believe there are other planets with life on them, with the likelyhood that some have very similar (maybe identical) ecosystems to earth. This isn't "it." Should do your best with it though.
The concept that God does not take care of us has caused nonbelievers ("believers" too, I know) of all types to engage in many acts that curtail our freedoms.

It's doomed? What's doomed? There is always an apocolypse right around the corner. Are you old enough to have been in the nuclear attack drills? My mom told me about them, totally silly.
Actually, they couldn't "turn it around", they did not have the wisdom necessary to know "better." The name "Jerusalem" means the teaching of peace, which is what this world is for. I don't expect the pre-school of eternal living to only be populated by fully enlightened beings.

Actually, we are technically made of star poop.

Because organized religion breeds more hate in this world than good will. Almost every war this world has ever known has in part been started over diagreements concerning religion. I don't think anyone could convince me that the world would NOT be a better place in the absense of religion. It creates psychos like this woman

I disagree. Wars are started over the control of resources, with all groups (including religions) assuming they know the best way to control the resources.

When religion is finally overcome by enlightenment, then we all be better off for it.

But, as long as there are little people with little minds running around singing "Our God's Bigger Than Your God" with their self-righteous weapons of war, we will suffer the consequences of continual hatred and destruction all in the name of "saving souls" for some invisible man in the sky.
