Why Do Punks Hate Hippys

gee, someone else gets it... thats like, 2 out of 20... pathetic man...

 

I love punk, but I'm still called a hippy and have a peace sign on my car while I blare out the Germs. I like the music and "fuck this" attitude. Dont have to hate one

Punks and hippies seem to get along well enough most of the time. I suppose in the early days hippies were part of what punks were rebelling against.

punks are into violence and hate.... sorta. they dont like how happy and free hippys are, and they think its stupid to care about the environment. im friends with some "punks" (alot of them posers), but not ALL hate hippies, just most

That's pretty kool...I am pretty much th3e same way.
I get along with everyone as long as they are kool with me. I'm fine with it.

Rubbish, complete and utter rubbish!

The majority of the punks I know (including myself) are completely the opposite. We don't like violance, but there are some extreme cases where it's necessary.
Don't like happiness and freedom? Bullshit. Any punk who isn't one of these 'oh arn't blink 182 the best punk band ever' posers knows that freedom is what really matters and that its what everyone should be striving for.

and not caring about the enviroment? Again, bullshit. Humankind is destroying it's home, it's up to our generation to try and reverse whats happening, otherwise there won't be a world left for the next generation.

You need to learn to just stop looking at the 70's stereotype punk and realise we're not all molotov tossing pratts

 

very true! but on the other hand there ARE punks who don't care, who like violence and most of them like beer to (i call them beerpunks, cause the only thing the care about seems to be beer and party). i think that sort of punks don't like hippies that much (to talk in boxes).

I buy into the 'beerpunk' thing to an extent. Nothing wrong with getting drunk and having a good time. For all we know we could get hit by a bus tomorrow,so may as well enjoy life while we can

the line between the two subcultures is blurring. just go to a rainbow gathering and notice punks with dreadlocks. The punks that hate hippies are generally 15 year fashion blink 182 punks who have a TV between themselves and the real world. Punks started and generally run Food Not Bombs, a very hippie-like idea. Most of the punks I know are vegetarians and peace activists. we get along because we have the same ideals, but different tastes in music. and anyone who hates someone else because of musical tastes isnt a punkor hippie or goth or whatever. they're just a wanker...
