yes, all the time, damn it! I hate when that happens! (and don't say "you mean they use you as the 'before' picture???", wise asses)
Basically the same reason we socialize at all: Validation (do I exist, do I matter, do I matter as I am, do you like me, are you like me, etc.) Very basic, ancient human desires / psychological necessities. That's what I think, anyway.
Teenage spelling ..................... btw how do you make a hormone ?? dont pay her ..........................:ack2:
It's not the posting of pics that is the problem, it's the CONTENT of the pics some kids post that presents problems. More and more employers and universities will check a persons online "persona" as part of the application process. When they find pics of the person doing drugs, drinking irresponsibly, sexual content, violent content, etc. that application goes in the trash. I know, I've done it myself screening applications, it's much faster and a lot cheaper than doing a background search. Background searches cost on average $200 for a company/school to conduct, a google search is free. Concerning social networking sites like Facebook, well if can manage to read the multi-page EULA and privacy statements then I would think that common sense would preclude a sensible person from signing up. Just this line alone would stop me; For content that is covered by intellectual property rights, like photos and videos ("IP content"), you specifically give us the following permission, subject to your privacy and application settings: you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with Facebook ("IP License"). This IP License ends when you delete your IP content or your account unless your content has been shared with others, and they have not deleted it. Essentially you give Facebook the right to use ANY content you post in any manner, mostly selling it to third party advertisers. I'm glad my two teenage daughters have enough sense that they don't have any Facebook, Myspace or any other type of similar account. When I asked my 17 year old why she didn't have a Facebook account when so many of her friends do, her reply was "Are you kidding, have you read the terms of service agreement? I'm not that stupid." So I'm glad she took the time to investigate before signing on the dotted line.
A really good rule of thumb for the internet is "if you don't like the pics, don't look at them" & "If you don't like what they're saying, don't read it." Of course if you don't like either the pics or what they say, you can always engage them in discussion.... What bothers me is all these people out there that put their nude pics up, and I really don't want to see them. So, of course, I don't look at them. Yet all those hot babes out there that I wanna see nekkid, they won't put their pics up. Bitches. :guitarist:
I think those of you that are putting your photos onlilne should check out Google's newest search agenda. You are able to dragging and dropping photos from your desktop into the Google search box. Google will then be able to search the web for elements and people that match up with who or what is in your photos. http://images.google.com/ This scares the hell out of me. Like all well marketed technology, it sounds really cool. But stop and think about the ramifications of this. Anyone, anywhere can use a photo of you to find out where you are. They drag and drop an image of you into the google search box and suddenly results come flooding back. Perhaps you were at a concert and some reporter got a photo of you in the background, or you went grocery shopping and somone with their cell phone taking a picture of their child accidentally caught you buying condoms... etc etc This is Big Brother and it's the modern way of survailance without having to put CCTV cameras on every telephone pole in the nation.
I think that teenagers put pics up of themselves online now mostly through facebook.. i dont have facebook anymore because I dont know people that live miles away that i want to stay in contact with .. i have 5 close friends of witch i can just call and everyone else i had either just seen at school or something but anyway .. i think if a teenager is going to put a picture up they should be carefull about it . be safe ..
