I have no problem eating meat if it's treated humanely before slaughter. I also much prefer grass fed, organic beef/chicken. Tastes much better.
i wasnt trying to word it that way my bad. im not the type to be all like mg you animal killer for eating meat" i really dont care when my friends eat meat. i just percieve meat as dead animal and dead animal has flesh and the flesh is now staerting the process of decomposing and does it more once it hits your belly. thats why i dont eat it. but it does taste good.
our teeth look like herbivore teeth to me and they chew meat up just as good... hmm. For normal growth and sound health throughout life, the human species requires eight amino acids which their bodies cannot manufacture, vitamin B12 and some essential minerals. The only viable source of these amino acids and of vitamin B12 is animal protein such as red meat, fish, shell fish, eggs, milk, insects and worms. The lack of these amino acids results in serious illnesses. For example, kwashiorkor is a deficiency disease which impedes the normal development of vital brain cells and stunts growth. People may be getting all they need to eat to satisfy their hunger from grains and other plant foods. They may even become plump on a diet of grains, but their normal growth and development is stunted.
There is something rather primal about stalking, killing and eating something: I myself fly fish for trout, and I only keep fish to eat. Also, it is a fact that fishermen and hunters are often the defenders and protectors of the animals, and also of the environments they inhabit. Who else would realistically pay for the upkeep of rivers and lochs, and for the protection of the fish that inhabit them?
i feel you man i was a vegetarian back in the day bro, for about 3 days. but either way you are taking a life, plant or animal. animals do the same exact thing, so dont stress your self over this my brother.
eat kosher meat. if it is considered kosher by jewish law then they WERE killed humanely and treated very well before being killed
I have to agree in part with magical mystery girl, vegitarians usually do taste better... not sure that's what she meant though...
As a vegetarian I do think everyone should be vegetarian as well because eating meat is just unnecessary suffering and death when we are more than capable of getting our food elsewhere. Sure we may have needed meat at one point, but not anymore, so why keep killing? I won't "rip" on anyone but I call it like I see it; if you're lifestyle harms others, you should try to stop causing harm. That's ignorance, deary, not innocence. You KNOW what's going on, so that keeps you from innocence. And its so easy to quit meat, it looks gross once you don't eat it anymore.
Your vegetarian lifestyle causes the death of countless small animals like rodents and snakes. If only you would eat beef instead, so many fewer animals would have to die.
I do, actually. I've spent many, many hours reading arguments for and against eating a vegetarian diet, and it seems that the machines used in the harvesting of vegetables end up killing many more animals in exchange for the same amount of nutrition as you would get from a small part of one large animal. Despite this, I still can't bring myself to eat any sort of meat other than fish.

Moral arguments aside there is a practical reason for eating meat: It can be a very cheap way to acquire a large amount of nutrition, and when you are broke that is a good thing. Where I live I can buy an entire chicken for less than the cost of 2 pounds of zucchini. Seeing as though sometimes I have to return bottles to put gas in my car to get to work, that chicken is a great way to feed myself for a couple of days until the next pay check. Also, there seems to be some misunderstanding about the human digestive system here. Humans are not particularly well adapted for any diet. Our digestive systems are less able to absorb meat than highly evolved meat eaters, less able to absorb vegetables than highly evolved vegetable eaters. That's one reason humans survived the ancestral environment: they ate what they could get. But I do generally agree that people should eat as little meat as possible, mostly for moral reasons (mostly concerning the way animals are raised and slaughtered, I find nothing at all wrong with the idea of killing and consuming animals itself).
