So doesn't that mean that we (people who hate big corps) are winning? Shut the damn jip joints down....I'm sure we can get our fix of low paying jobs and overpriced, slave-produced merchandise somewhere else in town.
Mom & Pop businesses? Where do ya'll see any of them anymore? The ones around here are dropping like flies thanks to wal-mart and the likes. But like Eric Cartman of South Park, CO. says "nothing can stop the wal-mart!"
Stealing sure is the American way! Hit that nail right on the head, brother. Shameful, isn't it. Wal-Mart steals....we just don't call it that.

Don't misunderstand me, I am NOT for or against big corporations. I AM against stealing, no matter who you steal from. It hurts working people much more than any corporations. I like 7-11's practice BECAUSE the anti-corporate theives DON'T win.

If you don't like big corporations, DON'T shop there! The market will make a decision. Stealing hurst the consumer, NOT the corporation (primarily, at least)

I want to open my own pharmacy one day. I could NEVER compete with Wal-Mart on prices. Wal-Mart, CVS, Eckerds, and Walgreens are a major threat to independent pharmacy. On the other hand, I could open a successful independent pharmacy next door to any of the chain stores and be very successful, by exploiting their deficits in service and pharmaceutical care, and marketing it. I work for one of the large chains. Above all, it has given me the info necessary to know how to beat them at their own game. The fact that I hate the chains, and ESPECIALLY Wal-Mart does not make me want to steal from them, though. Theft hurts the innocent employees during inventory or evaluations, and above all it hurts the consumer. Prices ARE inflated to compensate for theft!

ok time for my 2 cents.:)

i just dont get the stuff people steal, it's really pathetic. i meen alot of the stuff people steal is medicen (sorry for the spelling errors) but some of the stuff they steal at the store i work for is just redickulous.

    for example:

someone once stole just one of the little paks of poptarts from a box of poptarts.

someone once stole this new key chain eye glasses cleaning thingy

and then there are the people who try to return products that they just took off the shelf.

it is absolutely redickulous. i meen, with some of the stuff people steal, i just have to ask, "why?"

i think there are other ways to shut the 'jip joints' down. shopping locally, avoiding the malls and mass produced items and spreading the concept of buy only what you really really need to your friends and family, protesting the openings / development of these stores in new areas for example. but that isn't as exciting or 'hip' as bragging about how you lifted this or that so you justify your actions as 'right' and there is a difference between being a freegan and shoplifting as far as i know...

and for those of you so concerned with your starving neighbours and local poor these corps supposedly cause and keep down, what are you doing personally for them? when was the last time you shared your rich or meager dinner with them in your home?

I don't like Wal-mart, i think they have EXTREMELY bad buissness ethics. plus their custermer service stinks. i don't know too much about Eckerds, i haven't shoped their or even been too one in over 2 years. Walgreens has just as bad custermer service as Wal-mart.

I work at a CVS, and i like the way they do things there. i don't know too much about what goes on behind the scenes, like upper management and all, but i do know they have good custermer service. the people that work with me at CVS are very frindly and nice.

I think stealing of any sort is toatlly wrong except in life/death
I'm a father of two and since I choose to have my wife at home to care for our kids instead of working while we send our kids of to be herded around like sheep in some daycare I can't really afoord to shop anywhere but the big chains and to buy mass produced stuff. BUT that doesn't mean I steal it. For those of us that have to buy the mass produced stuff we need to buy it from rebutal compaines that don't have kids produce it in sweat shops somewhere, But have you ever tried to buy a pair of shoes made anywhere out of asia? Can't do it.

Capitalism is a huge competition to see who can steal the most.

I think you would have more effect if you encouraged people not to shop at walmart to live a more simple lifestyle, grow more of your own food ect ect

I think shoplifting can have a bad effect on the person doing the shoplifting you may start stealing from walmart but then start to get into a criminal mindset where your just generally dishonest .

If people are buying it, why is it stupid amounts of profit? Sounds legit to me.

Stealing from walmart type businesses dont hurt them.
Thats a dumb reason to do it, what a rebellion!

They get all of it back, with extra, with insurance
and all. Plus, the people who depend on those
places to feed their children arent the enemy,
but i bet they would loose their jobs if
the money loses had to be made up.

Find a more creative, beneficial way
to fight back man, your objective
    lacks merit.

How much is the "correct" amount of profit for Tesco's to make before you think you no longer have the right to steal from them?

Tesco's net profit margin (profit after tax divided by sales) was 4%. Is this too outrageous of a profit margin for you to consider actually paying for things? Where did you get this sense of entitlement?

Tesco also paid about 1.6 million pounds a day in corporate taxes. Apparently they are still "guilty"?

Thieves always rationalise their actions. Ask anyone who has worked in a shop - anything which isn't nailed down, someone will try to steal it. Need has nothing to do with it.

The only dumpsters I've ever seen locked up are the ones that may contain sensitive information, like credit card receipts, employee info, or computer passwords. Never had a problem getting them off though lol...
