I dye my hair black myself, and its fine. I now use this place that sells Henna hair dye but it does other colours (including "noir") so its a little more natural than all those chemicals. It's a shop called Lush. I love it.

As for the dying back to your natural colour, I used hair dye from the same brand I used the last time I dyed my hair and it came out alright. It was too strong though. Once you've used something more natural any chemicals smell terrible!

Haha, when I was 15, the summer after my freshman year of high school, I dyed my hair hot pink. It was already platinum blonde from late first semester of that year, so it went in easy and looked great the entire time it was in (there's a fairly bad pic of it towards the end of the dye in my gallery). It was hot pink, like...something you'd expect to see on a troll doll at first, but then it faded to this cotton candy pink...it was great. But I was in the grocery store with my parents and an old lady (mid-late seventies) in a wheelchair came up really close and as I was moving out of her way so she could have room to get by, she got a really good look at my hair and said, "Oh, that is so cute!" Completely unexpected for someone with hot pink hair, a spiked collar, a ton of chains, and a good amount of black clothing. I loved it, though. It was the greatest thing in the world, knowing that older people like unconventional hair colors, too.

For some reason, when people dye their hair lighter it usually turns out great, but dying darker is a much harder look to pull off...

I got more compliments for black hair than anything though. A lot of people said I should keep it that way... But I think I have a skin tone that could make a lot of differant colors look natural and such.

I've been thinking about dying my hair, it's very, very light blonde, seriously almost white, but I've heard that if I dye it it will never go back natural, it that true? I do want a bit of a change but I don't want to lose my natural colour as it's so rare and unique.

Well, my hair was naturally a dirty blonde from the time I was about 4 until I dyed it brown when I was 13. It was only semi-permanent, so it washed out after a few weeks, but my hair's never been as light, but that can also be blamed on the fact that a lot of people are blonde as kids but once they hit middle adolescence, their color changes. Now my hair's naturally an auburn color. I'm really not sure how your hair would react, but if you're not sure, don't do it and talk to a professional stylist first.

I've been regularly dying my hair since I was 11. I was a light blonde from birth to age 11. My hair has been gradually growing in darker, now if I let it grow in all the way I'd probably be a mousy brown.

i dyed my hair black once and it faded to a weird orangey/red color. the tips of my hair are this odd color. my hair was black like 4 years ago. I haven't done anything to my hair since. I know, it's kinda boring, but i'm getting dreads soon! I just need to get them started.
