That is a very silly generalisation. You appear to be basing a theory about all humans on the lifestyle of two people (live in the same area, and apparently have the same job!).

I'm an intellectual too and I have an extremely high sex drive. As do many intellectuals.

Where did almost everyone on this thread (apart from Anithesis) get the notion that intellectuals are incapable of being aware that they are intellectuals? That's absurd! Following this logic, all members of MENSA would have to be stupid to get in!

That's an utterly ridiculous notion! It does however show that idiots are not aware that they're idiots!

Sex is a beautiful natural thing. Talking non stop about sex is moronic.

 

It's one thing to be aware you're an intelligent, capable individual. It's a very telling aspect of someone's personality if it's the first thing they say. An "intellectual" is well-versed in many scholarly subjects and has contributed to these fields (IMHO). I would call myself intelligent, but I think whether or not I am an intellectual is to be determined by what I contribute to the academic community.

 

Abyle, your last post perfectly demonstrates the difference between an intellectual and a non-intellectual.

By definition, an intellectual is someone who is rational and logical, and acts based on facts. The sort of person who turns to the dictionary when seeking definition of a word.

Conversely, someone who isn't an intellectual will make judgements based on their feelings. They'll probably disregard the dictionary and make up their own definition for a word based on 'what they think it is'.



Sorry to make fun! You clearly are an intellectual. (You can't have that avatar and not be an intellectual — and I strongly agree with the sentiment, too). But your definition is quite inaccurate!
