I agree... I've actually already had to change my career plans and what i'm going to university for 3 times now, because all of those careers require you to take drug tests regularly and just randomly...

I don't even know what i want to do now, because i have to decide if i want a career, a career that doesn't allow me to be free and do what i like, or to not have a career that i like... I probably won't smoke weed forever (but maybe i will lol) i just don't like the thought of somebody telling me that i CAN'T smoke it, that makes me want to even more.... drug testing should be illegal, it's none of nobodies business what i do on my own time, when i'm at work i get work done, but when i get home i want to relax and do what i like to do...

Back when I was working, I had a friends little brother piss in a travel size shampoo bottle for me for a couple jobs... I'd tape hand warmers to the outside of the shampoo bottle to keep the piss proper temp, and tape the whole contraption up in my taint.. then when the time comes, just undo my fly and squeeze the shampoo bottle..

I hate to jump to conclusions, but most unemployed stoners I've met are just lazy and unmotivated... you can easily get a job if you genuinely put forth the effort.

Well its not quite that simple... They do it for safety purposes. You wouldn't want the guy flying your 737 smoking PCP on his free time would you? Or how about your taxi driver, you probably wouldn't want him smoking crack before picking you up...

However, I agree cannabis is pretty benign... though I wouldn't go so far as to say it should be ILLEGAL to test for it. The bottom line is, everyone reacts and behaves differently under the influence of cannabis, and certain people (i.e. those who happen to be in potentially dangerous professions) should probably not be smoking if it will affect their ability to do their job safely. I have seen some people act like COMPLETE idiots when they're stoned... I'm sure we all have... especially people who are not tolerant to the effects of cannabis.

But I do agree that cannabis should not be tested for in most jobs.. Cooks for example, or office clerical type work is absolutely uncalled for when it comes to drug testing, and just a total waste of time and cash.. yet so many employers seem to drug test for this type of shit. However, when it comes to highly important or potentially dangerous jobs, I can see where they are coming from... to a certain extent anyways.

I agree though, the whole "drug testing for employment" thing needs to be majorly reformed.

 

But what about the jobs that test you randomly? You're going to carry some little kids piss around with you every day at work?

I'm just hoping that weed will be legalized within the next few years then i'll have nothing to worry about

 

guess im lucky, most all the guys im working with smoke weed. although i always try putting my work first..

 

I've never had an issue. I could stop smoking for a few days before and drink lots of water and cranberry juice and I've always got the jobs. Ive honestly thought though that they dont actually care about the results and maybe I was failing and they were giving me the job anyway, lol

If you do fail, you could always argue it and say they made a mistake and make them retest. Just make sure you are better equipped for the retest.

If it's a hair or saliva test, there are other work-arounds on the market out there... These tests are more expensive however, and most companies do not want to drop that kind of money on drug testing, when they can do urinalysis tests for far cheaper.

I've thought that before too, that maybe they were really just testing for the harder stuff and were willing to let a little thc positivity slide.

A good friend of mine actually owns his own business doing this. He's got a nice house and makes his own schedule and I think he's smoked every day for years.

Most times you only have to pass a piss test to be hired and/or if you are hurt on the job. I used to work at an animal shelter, and got bit, so the boss wanted to test me for insurance purposes. Lucky for me my boss convinced her that was not nessasary (he and I smoked all the time). So if you find a good boss it can work out
