Ok. I am having problems believing that the writing style of this text indicates that it was written before the 19th century. Perhaps the authors should rewrite it to make it appear more authentic? Yup. Ok. It's good to know that you don't care. Thanks for taking the time to explain that....
The English text was translated from the original Coptic and Greek versions, so you may well have read a 19th century translation since the Coptic text wasnt discovered until the 1940's. Your welcome
In the Gospel of St Thomas, Christ was asked, by Peter, I beleive, "How can Mary enter into the Kingdom? She is a woman and women have no soul." Christ, obviously irritated, says, "Fine, I'll turn her into a man." Christ liked to change people's names. Some beleive that John (not the Baptist, the Younger) was actually a womyn, and most likely was Mary. He may have changed her name so she would be accepted by the misogyny He knew would take at least 2000 years to overcome. I'm pretty sure she WAS an apostle, but that history and the fear of feminine power left her out. JMO. (Hey, maybe it's Divinely Inspired. )
involuntaery responses...my brain structure is far more advanced than your own so i can function without voluntary actions... im controlled by something similar to a Giant Hypothalmus
ummmm, them thelemites do have all the answers, friend... but those of us who are not initiated into the inner mysteries can not be trusted with the awful burden of the full truth... according to uncle al crowley... so as to what he's going on about - well, just "tipping over the cattle" or "spooking the sheep" i suppose, innit? ~ y'know, crowley used to submit hymns & poems to british christian publications... with ummmm hidden messages in 'em (usually scurrilous, blasphemous, and/or obscene...) a very witty fellow, master therion was... but not somebody i'd like to have securing my belay line, mmmkay?
If you feel you have the answers why not share them with us here where there is already a thread started on the subject. I for one would be interested in seeing your perspective on the topic but I dont see the point in signing up at a new forum for it.
why 12 men? why no women? why is God "he"? why is Jesus "he"? why the Bible dominated by men, I wonder?
Because according to the Bible it was the woman who was deceived first in the garden. As a result of that, God placed the man in the leadership roll. Yet when I see the way people are today, it seems to me, it could of gone either way.
well, acctually i started this thread to pove a point... and also, i tryed to put agnostic christain as my religion in my profile, but i can't [or i just havent figured out how yet ] you know, with the logic of a southern babtist [and just for the record, im not calling you a southern baptist] i could prove myself a satanist too...and i will.. I listen to the BEATLES ... throw me in Hell now im still searching right now...and you know, the reason i denied your invitation to go to playdypus.com or whatever it was, was cause, quite frankly, you creep the heck outa me
Well based on your last quote, you seem to lack both wisdom and love. The God of the Bible put an order to things for reasons we may only understand, when we stand before Him. Searching for answers I have done all of my life. Yet the more I learn, the more I realize how little I know. When you come to that conclusion, then you will begin to have wisdom. I hope you don't end all of your posts the way you ended this last one with me. It only shows the depth of your ignorance.
Hahaha. He just baited you into revealing that you do not understand that he understands the hypocracy of his words. Dumbass...
It might seem as if in fact they have only one answer! Myself, I'd have been happy to climb with Crowley, and have him secure my belay line, as he was an expert mountaineer. I'm not quite so sure of some of his methodology in other fields though.
~ yah, it's just those persistent rumors about when a mate (at the wrong end the line, eh?) was climbing the alps w/uncle al & got into a spot of trouble, crowley sliced the rope --> ttfn, buddy... <*thud*>
Ah well, there's no shortage of rumors regarding Frater P. Hard to say which are true and which false.
