But how do you know its "your god"?
By Physics inherent to energy and matter.
Its an easier answer that requires no learning, no studying of the hard subjects like physics, chemistry, cosmology, biology, etc. I can understand that, but at some point that wasn't a good enough answer for me.

Because an omnipotent, omni benevolent god needs to be subtle? The bible teaches us that god wants all to know him, yet with all his powers, even after 4000 years, not all know him. Just under half of the entire worlds population believes in this god.

A Tri-omni god is contradictory. He could and would stop suffering by disease, natural disasters, etc... but doesn't, why? This type of suffering doesn't interfere with free will, so that can't be the excuse. If he can't stop this type of suffering, then he's not omni potent, and if he can but doesn't, then he is not omnibenevolent. If he's neither, then why call him god?

Pascals Wager, a very poor argument for the existence of your god or any other. What if you are worshipping the wrong god? You are basically betting on which version of heaven or hell may exist. What if your god doesn't like you betting on his existence and only believing because you think it may get you into his version of heaven? Thor may not appreciate you betting on Valhala.

    Thanks for playing. :cheers2:

Just to touch on a couple of your points.
First, to know something and to believe in it is two different things.

“The Bible is the most widely read book in history. . . . More copies have been distributed of the Bible than of any other book. The Bible has also been translated more times, and into more languages, than any other book.”—“The World Book Encyclopedia.”

The fact is that Bible continues to be the most translated and distributed book in the world, the Bible has been translated, at least in part, in over 2,400 languages, a number that seems to increase every year. So it would seem that the God of the Bible has made the knowledge of himself widely available. As for believing in him that’s up to each person’s free will.

Actually I believe that you are mistaken when you say this does not interfere with free will. It was the exercise of free will, the deciding to separate themselves from God that has caused these problems. They did not exist before the separation.

God can stop the suffering but most, you included, do not want God’s help.

God is benevolent and is thus working out a way for those who no longer want to be separated from God, can return and once again experience the blessings that mankind once had.

I don't dispute that the bible is the most read. most translated book in history. So what? Is that support for the truth in the claims made in the bible? No! All it means is that Christianity has more money to produce and translate the book, again, big deal. If you were arguing for the validity of Christianity based on the popularity of the book, I'd have to call the argument fallacious, argumentum ad populum. But since it doesn't appear you are doing this, I won't make the charge. The fact that less than half the world believes in the claims of the book shows that its not all that convincing.

    I wish I was, but I'm not.
Are you claiming that the Genesis account of the bible is not allegorical? Are we to believe in a literal Genesis? If Genesis is allegorical, then earth quakes, disease, etc, has always existed. Even if Genesis is suppose to be taken literally, it doesn't mean that this type of suffering is necessary. God could stop it any time he wants. Even if god came down and spoke to the entire earth making sure that we all knew who he was, doesn't affect our free will to follow him. I'd personally tell him he's a tyrant and not worthy of my worship.

Poor assumption on your part. Suffering caused by disease and natural disasters isn't incumbent on our belief in god or not. If it is, this further proves my point that your god is an egotistical tyrant. When you see a child at an open window of a burning house, do you wait for him to worship you and ASK to be saved or do you just do it?

God is not benevolent if he requires or desires our worship first, before helping the suffering. You want me and everyone else to believe and love god? Ask him to stop world hunger and natural disasters over night, THAT would truely be a miracle, not some schmoe walking on water, thats a parlor trick.

And I thought you were supposed to be a debater. It's fairly easy to see that either you didn't understand what I said or for some reason you’re deliberately not answering the points I raised, either way please try again

Trinity is Not in the Bible. Yes, this teaching is controversial; what is more, it makes no sense to them trying to believe in it. Sir Isaac Newton was able to find by personal study, that Trinity wasn't in the Bible. All the Encyclopedia confirm this truth.

Dear IMjustfishin, i just thought we had enough of those proofs of creation/evolution, and so I retired from that. Since it was not to show who of us was smarter or something, I considered this line to be full enough.
And also, I can see now that science or no science, a person can find proof to anything he needs. Sure enough, some of us find the real proof to the realities as they are; others are finding something to convince themselves of the trueness of their delusions. In this regard it is difficult to operate with such pieces of proof, for every one presenting his proof will find it absolutely convincing.

I was, in fact, highly amused and even amazed at reading the article I already linked to. How easily they find proof to their fantastic hypothesis of the Intelligent and clever energy being the cause of evolution! Really, you don't need to imagine the damned improbabilities, might as well forget about them; energy itself was Intelligent and clever, so it made the needed molecules unite into the needed proteins! NO damned improbabilities to fix!!!
There were no links missing in the evolution either, because ... there WAS NONE. The evolution took place just within one life of one creature: this creature just evolved into a higher kind. Is it fantastic? Not at all! You see it all around us, how a complicated creature grows (or evolves, if you will) from and embryo, or a grain, or whatever fetus -- from a "primitive" cell into a highly complicated organism. This process being such common thing in our world, should we be surprised to learn, that "Mother Nature" used this process (when time was ripe for it) to change one kind of living creature into but a little bit more "advanced" version?
There is still more to it, you will find all the stuff about evolving from selfishness to love and whatever your soul desires.

Of course, there are questions and gaps. Assumptions made and real facts ignored... But what I just noticed, is that this choice is completely a matter of one's preference. One prefers this theory over the other one for personal reasons.
Maybe, because his most respected and beloved uncle, the best man in the world -- was a muslim. And other kind folks he knows are muslims. Granted , the truth should be searched for in Muslim religion then!
Or maybe he loves some Hindu teachings, he may be enchanted by the mysterious Indian heritage and beautiful mythology -- and thus he will be digging in the teachings, known today as "Indian". (That is to say, not all the teachings used in the modern versions of Hinduism natively belong to Hinduism).
You can add here the fact, that these teachings are constantly developing, trying to look more appealing to the modern day scientific and educated mind. Primitive animism developed into a highly smart theory of intelligent energy, for example. All this advanced theories provide scientific proof for Buddhism, animism, Hinduism and whatever your soul might desire!:cheers2:

Well, I still think, one should be looking for truth about this world and about ourselves. There cannot be more than ONE truth. Neither can truth be to everyone what he prefers. This is the key, I think. So, many find the Biblical God Jehovah to be closer to what they understand to be "truth". Although, frankly, not many of them really dig that deep. And that's a pity!

    Old water

I would be referring to your tastes in literature.

I do not see how the popularity of the bible proves anything other than that the book or books are popular. It probably has more to do with the power of the church, traditions and political elite than anything else.

On the subject of free will:

The gift of free will is a strange one indeed a bit like a poison chalice as it terns out. Giving man the freedom to sin is like giving him the opportunity basically hang him or her self if he or she so chooses which many do strangely enough. Don t you love the divine gift of freedom.

My god is not a god. My god is the great beauty inside us all. The same great beauty that radiates from one person to the next. The same inexplicable beauty that takes your breath away everytime you watch the natural world around you. The simple answer is this. God is what God is not and in being so he also is what we are and in us we are him, and when all the systems of God and gods and all other things that relate to God in essence are simply taken away, it is us in ourselves and nature around and within us.

Wrong itsdarts. The cjig god is the most worshipped god in the world. Here are several links to state this truth

Nature is the being which all men try to define as God, from Zeus to Jesus, all the way back to Ra, gods are defined by abilities within nature herself. Nature is omnipotent. Look all around you and tell me it isn't. And we suffer because we make nature suffer. All things are natural and all things are supernatural, and all have their place in nature.

There is no heaven or hell my friend. merely reincarnation untill you reach the second realm of true enlightenment.

    Thanks for playing. :cheers2:

I'm guessing that was a complement man. But mushrooms, marijuana, and other purely natural drugs are fine with me ya know? I enjoy them on a regular basis and still am me. They expand your concious and subconcious mind man. They give you insight into things that trouble so many other people.

I believe that the soul and the spirit are two seperate entities within someone man. All the good memories are in the soul, and all the bad are in the spirit. When someone dies the good and the bad are takin apart and put into new human bodies to restart in life. Then eventually once you have grasped all you can in life. You are reincarnated into a divine entity. One with nature and in being so one with the cosmos.

When you're ready to debate, come on over to OnlineDebate.net, where moderators will help make sure that 1, you remain on topic, 2, when presenting your facts, you support them when asked or retract your claims, and 3, when you fail to respond to the points I clearly read and responded too, you can be kicked off the thread. This forum is the saddest excuse for debating I've seen yet, even worse than Frostcloud.com.
