What I was actually looking at is per person in each of those two countries. US: 17.6 tons of CO2 per year China: 6.2 tons of CO2 per year Was that disingenuous of me? Perhaps. But do you want to work out the total CO2 output (not just from burning fossil fuels, but including car emissions etc etc etc, and then working out what the differences are based on the No. of people in each country: China: 1,339,724,852 US: 312,793,000 (Notice there are over a billion more people in China) And then be fair and reasonable about who is the bigger polluter... ...and why Yogi thinks other countries should sort themselves out before he lifts a finger to make a contribution in reducing his 'carbon footprint'. Also working out what is meant by: 'third world shitholes'. You might find Yogi is skating on thin ice (if you pardon the pun) How about YOU clarify what you mean when you say: 'all these international environmental laws don't apply to China' Like I said: 'What International environmental laws are you talking about?' Yogi: 'Like usual, You jump in to troll with no fact(s). ' Would you like to add some facts PR? Would you like to add some facts Yogi? Yogi: 'It has been done long before my time, And will be going the same when im done and gone. You can do all you want, Not going to change a fucking thing.' http://www.leicester.gov.uk/your-co...d-cleansing/recycling/recycling-rate-targets/ Take this as a little e.g of when individuals do something and when individuals don't do as much. Then apply it to any environmental issue you want. If everybody had your attitude figures would not go up/down, but thankfully not everybody does have your attitude. To be fair, you can do what you want. If you want to pour your unwanted oil 'back' into the ground - you do that. But just imagine what the damage would be if a couple of hundred million people did that in the US on a regular basis. Reduction rather than Increase: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-...s-on-track-to-fall-17-meeting-obama-goal.html http://www.independent.co.uk/enviro...to-impose-carbon-targets-by-2016-8626101.html
That's not all, it's just one aspect of environmentalism. If that was really all we could agree with Yogi that we can't change shit. Who can't really be serious about his posts here, so the trolling accusation seems right.
I think we should care about the environment and try not to pollute.Clean energy sources are certainly desirable, regardless of whether the earth is heating up because of natural fluctuations or if it is man-made.If the energy, intellectual resources and money that are put into finding and developing fossil fuels were put into green technology I'm sure we could come up with a lot of amazing stuff. But the existing energy companies who lobby parliaments and are part of the MIC don't want to loose their business and profits,so we are in effect screwed for the present.( Potential renewable energy sources could be virtually free at source and point of use.) I'm not so sure about the environmental agenda being some NWO hoax, even though I do believe there are some very rich and powerful people who would like to subjugate the masses and maybe even kill us off.I believe the "Illuminati" and such like are largely self-fulfilling prophecies that some people buy into. There are certainly hidden agendas at work though. Of course it is easier to deny climate change and shrug it off as "not real","natural fluctuation" or "there's nothing we can do about it",as this lifts a lot of weight off the shoulders of people who already have too much to worry about,as most of us do.It's called "care fatigue",and unfortunately as things in the world have the potential to worsen, although this is always relative and localised, care fatigue may increase, leading to exponential decline in standards and respect for the environment and the people in it.
It is not all, just one aspect of environmentalism. If there would be nothing more to environmentalism than that the people who care about the environment are being used by opportunistsic politicians, organizations, etc. THEN I could imagine someone coming to the same conclusion as Yogi (the selfish defeatist, apathetic point of view). As I don't think he's that big an idiot he might posted what he did just to provoke/shock value or in other words trolling. Perhaps I'm wrong and he is that big of an idiot.
America used to look a lot like modern day China http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1948_Donora_smog you might not think it is useful to have clean air or rivers and lakes but its something I enjoy. We're not the most environmentally friendly country by any means but environmental regulations have cleaned up a lot of pollution from this country. As a personal example, there is a river that flows right through the center of my town that used to be polluted as fuck. its been a 20 year process to clean it up and its not completely there yet but now at least people can enjoy it, kayak and canoe in it without fear of catching something if they fall in, and can walk along its banks without the pervasive smell of sewage and chemicals. I think the useless, idiotic environmentalists who lobbied to clean it up are pretty fucking awesome. and yeah, we found a cheap solution to our consumer needs. We shipped manufacturing over to China so we can continue to consume and live our greedy lifestyles. China will wake the fuck up one day and hopefully pass some environmental regulations too.
So what's your point? It doesn't matter? Well, yeah obviously we can't control it. If we could control it, then we would probably be doing something about it. Nobody here is saying that we're in control of what's happening, or even that we're in control of what we're doing. But we do have an impact, and that impact is more pronounced than the impact of any other animal. So the big question is which is more important: the quickest, easiest, most destructive solution to a not-so-important problem (the economy, a lifestyle we're not even sure we want), or trying to find a way to live in harmony with the ecosystems so that they can continue to support us for the longest amount of time possible?
Says the guy who links to oil company propaganda. You're not even being paid for it... how depressing is that?
What? I have to sit and troll it like you? I left my opinion and was done. I could give a shit less what everyone else does. That's the beauty of it, You can do what you want, And ill do the same. Actually we are buying a tanker and sprayer, So we can go around and spray the tree hugging hippies with oil. Then over to the botanical garden(s) to make sure they are chemically balanced correctly. But as it sits, Fuel costs will have a big impact so dumping it local is easier. Just like with old tires, Best to burn them at night so the thick black smoke is not seen and keeps ya just as warm :2thumbsup:.
It called having a conversation. My last comment was just in jest. I have been here long enough to know the habits of posters such as yourself and PR. I was not really expecting any further comment/factual information. Merry Christmas
Sorry, Not a link whore like you to post worthless bullshit from a one-sided organization. You seem to think everyone should drop everything and go out and save the planet. I have better things to do and I would rank that at the very bottom of the list. In the short amount of time I have been here, I know you post bullshit, links that are pointless, And sit and troll when it don't suit you. You can be dudly do-rite and gain some brownie points, I don't have time for it.
