    Well lets say that is your body. Why do you feel the need to display it in such a sexual way. Shouldn't the fact that you are intelligent be enough?

    Sure. But I put in a lot of work to look the way I do, and fitness is part of who I am. So I display it more for those reasons than anything else. I am thinking of putting a new sig pic of me looking more "professional" in a suit to see the difference it will make in how people respond to me around here. You wouldn't think people would be that spiteful and/or jealous towards a guy with a sig pic with his shirt off, but that's the way people are around here.

    And I don't see that pic as sexual at all. Now anytime a man takes his shirt off it's considered sexual??

    This is getting way off topic here BTW.

    It is a "male identifier", though, and that's on topic.

    My gut reaction was to say that I have a disproportionate number of 'girls' in my extensive IL. But, I decided to be scientific about it and take a look. As it turns out there are only a couple.

    'Girl' to me can mean two things:

    a) spoiled girl;

    b) cool girl;

    Although, I must say the word that should really follow 'cool' is 'chick.' I still hold on to my initial feeling though, that 'girls' and I will likely not get along.

    That being said, I thought calgirl was a killer username because of the clever pun. But, over time, the 'girl' part spoke louder than the 'cal'.

    ^^^ Chill out Aerianne. No one is trying to pass judgement here (except apparently for you and JoKing). This is only about trying to intelligently look at the psychology of why people add the name "girl" to their usernames.

    Oh...you chill out...I'm far from heated up. I'm participating in the discussion.

    One thing I will point out is that you keep saying "you people here", or something to that affect.

    Look, you're either with us or you're against us. What's your deal?

    It's our gender, I know I'm not ashamed that my username gives off my gender, or even my avatar being a girl.

    If I was a dude I'd probably do the same thing. I use the terms "dude" and "man" along with "girl" or "babe" all the time.

    It's no longer a man dominated world. I'm proud to be a woman. I mean, women rock? We bring life into this world. 'Nuff said lol.

    I don't know what the hell you're talking about. :confused: You seem more concerned about me than the topic at hand. If you want to talk about me, then let's make a new thread and we can handle it there.

    So you think it's a pride thing more than anything else?

    No, it's less of a pride thing, and more of a "I'm not ashamed to be a woman" thing.

    If you didn't hear yourself using that accusatory tone toward "people around here", nor recognize the fact that your sig pic reveals as much, or more, about your gender than the word "girl" in a username, then perhaps you need to spend more time trying to understand the psychology of your own mind first.

    That's not an attack. It's a response to what you have said in this thread.

    I have never used girl in any of my forum names. I am always Dragonsbard or Isadoran in forums. Although I did once use ladydragonsbard but I was playing fairy site fights and they insisted I use lady in my name and then I used it for my deviant art sight. I have seen guys end their names with boy and man but only occasionally.

    Uh oh....I may be considered a worst offender here...not only did I use "girl" in my username but I also spelled it "gurl" which could be construed as me wanting to convey I am much younger than I am (or perhaps just more childish or immature??).

    Honestly I don't know why I feel the need to over identify as a female but interesting question...let me think on it a bit..

    If you take me using the term people (which makes perfect sense as a form of reference) instead of members or whatever other noun as being "accusatory" then that's your own problem. I didn't say it with such intent and you trying to take it there is as "accusatory" as you can get.

    Again, this thread is not about me. It's about FEMALES identifying themselves as such in their usernames. The question was never about men or myself. But since you're so obsessed with me and want nothing more than to talk about me, me, me all day. I've created a new thread so you can talk about me all you want.
