I'm not sure I follow, but I'll answer as bet I can. First off, I don't know if it's been lost in the discussion or not, but I don't believe God (i.e. some kind of supreme Being who takes a direct interest in human affairs) exists. At least I go about my existence as though God does not exist.

Just because God's existence is not testable or demonstrable by repeatable experiment, that doesn't by itself show that God doesn't exist. It just means we'll have to try some means other than science of finding out. I cannot, after all, scientifically prove that I love Mrs. Gunison, but that fact doesn't by itself mean that I don't.

Not sure if that answers your question or not.

damn, I really assumed you were a believer...

there is no other way to prove it, unless some other supreme being comes down and does it for us

Jumping in: I'll not mention the lack of evidence for God's existence since that has already been discussed. When it comes to Christianity, by far the most popular religion in my area, God stinks too much of humanity. God, being of infinite power and goodness, has one major personality flaw--the need to be worshipped and adored. So He creates a universe for the sole purpose of bringing some beings into existence that can worship him. If one doesn't grovel and plead and be a total sycophant to God, then that individual will be tortured mercilessly for eternity. If that God exists, then it is far from a superior being. I'd call it rather inferior. If God is this egotistical and cruel figure, then why would accepting Him as one's personal savior in anyway ensure a respite from eternal torture and damnation. From what I can piece together, He would be more cruel and untrustworthy than even the most devious and sadistic human. "Jesus is my personal savior!" "I don't care. Your torment will amuse me even if ever so briefly." If God exists, then I'm sure that he's not this Christian figure. If so, then it appears we're all screwed regardless. That's long-winded and meandering enough for now.
