No, either bacteria or virus will. Or nuclear accidents, I'm still undecided about that. ;)

Who knows, but I think there's a chance that Iran, Pakistan, or North Korea will set things in motion. If it's the former two, that would be fundamentalist religion--specifically fundamentalist Islam. If it's the latter one, that would be fundamentalist atheism, although a case could be made that it functions like a religion, with Kim Jong il as the deity.

Hitchens spent time in North Korea and described it as the most religious country on earth. Few journalists have been there.

With the important qualifier that the object of worship would not be a supernatural being. North Koreans, good Marxist-Leninists that they are, teach that supernatural god(s) don't exist. Hitchens can get sloppy sometimes.

Religion won't be the end to mankind, it did get the ball rolling though, it has caused hundreds of millions, if not billions of human deaths, spread global ignorance, finical separation, society ethnicity separation, racism, slavery, and political status too control whole countries. Controlled religion is evil in more ways than it does good. It is not helping mankind come together, it is only separating us with one another which always brings war into the picture.

Bronny, evolution is the foundation for hate and genocide and mass murder...ask Hitler, ask Stalin and ask Mussolini.

Evolution is the reason brother. Think about it. It states that we are nothing and that some are better than others and to make better we must kill the weak to purify the gene pool. LOL

Don't be a fool man. God has been taken away and people are turning to satan's little helpers....

    Never heard of it.

But that is funny. I think I made this thread after watching Religilous, cause Bill Maher asserted towards the end that religious terrorism is the current great evil.

(I think greed and exploitation is a bigger one)

Duck, I knew you watched some program like the God Delusion or Religilous. Why ? because you think like a deceived man, and I smelled it all over your OP.

These shows are false, I tell you the truth.

What Maher didn't tell you that Evolution is dangerous and that Christians are not terrorist.

Did you know evolution is the foundation for hate and war ? If you want to know why ask me or ask Hitler....probably the former because the latter is dead.

I mean it, ask me why Evolution is not only stupid, but dangerous.

Religion will not destroy the world. Masses of certain people around the world will destroy the world.

No, I don't think so. It is possible that it will be a contributing factor, but I doubt we can attribute the destruction of man to a single thing or event.

Certainly religious terrorism is a great evil.

But I think the ceaseless pursuit of profit is the biggest threat to humanity at large. There is no greater virtue, it appers, in the modern world, than seeking profit. And so, corporations and people become greedier and greedier, disregarding all moral and ethical principles in favor of profit.

I think this is likely to be the most significant factor in our destruction. We are pillaging our own world; did you know some corporations are actively seeking to make bluefin tuna extinct so that they can sell all of their bluefin tuna at elevated prices later?

Have you heard about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch? Because it is in international waters, no one feels obligated to do something about it.

There are many examples like these, some truly atrocious; we violate and exploit human beings just as readily as we violate and exploit nature. All in the name of profit.

If people would actually follow the tenants of their religions, instead of interpreting and distorting these tenants for their own selfish purposes, I think "mankind" would be in a lot better shape - but that's never going to happen - because, as T. Leary once said, "Assholes will always do everything in their power to fuck everything up".

My hope, which I consider somewhat probable, is that homo-sapiens will end by evolving into something better.

It's called a New World Order. Evolution is the fundamental philosophy to conner stone this mindset, justifying all these actions on the most vital levels, its a means to the very ends you talk about above....I tell you the truth
