Why rambleON? Because life is precious, the earth is magnificent, and it takes a faith like christianity to get otherwise rational people to look forward to its obliteration with anticipation.

Well, when you really think about it, Christianity is a death cult.

Though, rather than having several regular sacrifices, they worship a single presumably successful sacrifice.

All religions have the potential to lead to the next attack/war. You can't single out one. Every religion has its violent fundamentalist nutcases in them. People thought only Muslims were capable of violence until that Christian guy in Norway went on a killing spree, then it became obvious to everybody that there isn't a single religion that can be singled out.

Firstly, to call people who kill in the name of religion or god "nutcases" or "extremists" is an error, because these actions are clearly sanctioned, if not outright commanded, in many holy books including the Bible and the Koran. In fact it would be more accurate to accuse peaceful followers of these religions of not being true believers than it would to accuse the killers of being nutcases.

The real problem is religious thought. This includes the idea that there is a supreme being who demands that we act a particular way, who makes its desires and commands known through a select few, whom we must take at their word that they have received revelation. Religious thought often generates utmost certainty where caution and doubt should be exercised. Utmost certainty is required to strap a bomb to oneself and to blow up a bus, and religion often fosters that certainty.

But you could also argue that people use the guise of religion to attain power, money etc. So these violent people do not care one bit about their religion they just use it to get people to help them with their own goals. But you're right, theological those who take their scriptures literally are more believers than those who take a liberal approach.

Firstly, you sound utterly stupid. Secondly, stop watching and reading Richard Dawkins and the like. Thirdly, whether you like it or not you will stand before God.

You cite false religions in your world view. Consult me in my thread to be educated. I am unsubscribing to this idiotic pseudo discussion, you know where to find me.

The religion of money will likely be our undoing.

It's a religion; it's an addiction; it's a disease. We're all infected to some degree.

well there are some things about some religions, like christianity, that do tend to be self fulfilling in that direction. the big problem with them, is promoting the idea that no one can discipline themselves to be considerate, to make a priority of being considerate, without them. this of course, along with just not paying attention, because such beliefs say you don't have to, just fallow their rote arbitrary magic formulas, which together create incentives which ARE collectively suicidal for the human species.

Abrhamic religions will bring and end to the world if a crazy natural disaster does it. Our enemies (our government) is run by money hungry religious "occultist". Who love play with people. Sacrificing celebrities and ect.

i don't believe human kind is going to be completely wiped out. i expect there is a very good likelihood that it will come very close to being, and the dominant popular beliefs like christianity, are playing a major roll, in driving the culture that is creating the conditions that will do so.

Have you been living under a rock? There is no group in human history as bigoted against each other or any other view than those who have come from the Abrahamic faiths. Christians hate Muslims who hate Jews, who hate Catholics who hate anybody who is not a catholic. It is a never ending circle of bigots and hate. You need to go and read your history.

Not to mention, the core texts of all of those, support the hatred and even extermination of other viewpoints.

And atheists hate Christians? Do you really believe that your kind of hate smells sweeter and is likely to produce less harm than anybody else's? By the way, who do the Methodists, Quakers, and Disciples of Christ hate? For that matter, who do I hate? What, in the teachings and example of Jesus (turn the other cheek, the beatitudes, the parable of the Good Samaritan, etc.) could be taken as a doctrine of hate? When I say I'm a Christian, all I mean is that I follow Christ's teaching and example of unconditional universal love for all, even society's rejects.

actually it is NOT the "core texts" of them that do anything of the sort. however, organizations claiming to be built on those texts, many of them, certainly do. and yes, that does include a predominance of christian sects, and many of those of other abrahamic religions. which just as an incidentally, aren't really seperate religions, but only newer or older updates, of what is basically the same religion throughout all of them.

what is not true, is that other beliefs, outside of the adamic/abrihamic sequence, share anywhere near their degree of chauvanism.

only big oxcart buddhism, comes close to somewhat less then half of it. and absolutely nothing else at all, claims that only its fallowers are worthy of eternal ease.
