Oliver North never spent a day in jail, and went on to make a small fortune bragging about his crimes, while Reagan was reelected by a landslide. Its rather pointless for politicians to insist their own voters support criminals. You could say its redundant.

I'm not arguing that the Senate will convict, they wont no matter what he does.
