getting mine out didn't hurt at all. i had two bottom ones that were impacted. maybe i just had a really good oral surgeon, but i didn't need the vicodin and just took the motrin as they prescribed it.

your face will be puffy and eating is hard for like 3 days but after that you'll be fine

I just passed out from the drugz, woke up told the nurse I loved her, and then stumble with the help of my aunt a couple of blocks away, layed on the couch ate Oxycodones and watch TV, giggling in a cloudy stuper, for about 4 days, then one day really sucked cause I still felt pain and had no more pills.. but then it got better

I had all 4 of mine pulled on the same day. Just sore for a few days, no big deal, about like getting a tattoo in the mouth.

dude I just had that like three weeks ago! it sucked at first, I had to spend all day on the couch for like a week, but I definitely did a fuck ton of oxycodone and vicodin haha. Also it sucks getting food particles stuck in the spaces where your wisdom teeth were. You basically have to rinse with salt water after every time you eat, which gets very annoying very fast. but the drugs are nice!

actually, i would say that the REASON we have wisdom teeth is that they are vestigial "spare teeth" of our cavemen ancestors. manhood ceremonies, early hunts, and a harsh young adult life likely resulted in many teeth knocked out, not to mention any abscesses that would have to be yanked, or they can kill you by infection. if you are missing a tooth, your other teeth do move to fill the space.
i have a narrow bottom jaw, all my front bottom teeth are crooked (not that i care, really) but both my bottom wisdoms were impacted. had i had any teeth pulled prior to my wisdoms shifting down, they may not have been impacted.
i find the human body, its evolution, and the remainders of our ancestors very interesting. i found out that the caruncular lacrimatis is actually a vestigial of a nictating membrane (an 'extra' eyelid) mine got inflamed and i freaked out, identified the body part, and found out that if you rub your eyes or get something wedged under it, it actually sort of peels away from your eyeball until the inflammation goes down. cool stuff.

if by "cool stuff" you really means "wow thats gross" you're spot on :D

hey, gross stuff can be cool. i think its better to know whats going on with the body, because it better enables you to deal with the gross when it happens. then again, being a mom, i have had very intimate contact with gross. exploding diapers, projectile vomit, projectile poop, etc, etc. you get used to it.

Meh... mine was annoying, but all 4 were infected and impacted so they needed to be cut and chiseled out and I'm a sissy when it comes to the dentist. As long as they don't need to be cut out and stitched up it probably won't be too bad. It was all the stitches afterward that were a pain in the ass... and for some silly reason they thought Tylenol 3 would be an acceptable pain medication for that mouth raping I had to endure...

ouch, thats a crappy dentist. when i got mine out my dentist cried because he made me cry, the local anesthetic didnt take on one side so he had to stab me again. i recently had 2 teeth pulled, and i was much braver. if you live in colorado i could give you his number. hes the bestest dentist.

not very likely they'd do a root canal at the same time. root canals are for teeth you are trying to keep in your mouth, after all. root canals+ crowns are one way to save a tooth, but i found out crowns are not permanent, they last 8-12 years. thats why i had two molars extrated recently, im not paying $2k now and $2k later to replace them. no, thanks, just pull out the teeth.

it can hurt if the anesthetic doesnt take right away, but if you tell the dentist they should give you another shot. mostly its pressure, and a discomfiting noise (oh, so this is what it sounds like when your face gets smashed... good to know!) the pain comes later. and it does hurt after, there is something unique to this particular brand of pain, deep bone pain. its mostly ache, but its persistent, and if you move too fast or try to exert yourself it throbs with vigor. i thought i was healed enough to work out, and it started to just pound me into submission.

its really better to get it over with. yes, it will suck to be you for a couple of weeks, but once its done its done. if you take care of your teeth you shouldnt have to have teeth pulled again for a long time. and wisdoms are the hardest ones to get out even if you do have to have teeth pulled later in life, it wont be as bad. but you gotta get it done.
