Seems as if it's images and roles that women are expected to adhere to and as most everything in our society has changed--so to have the restraints been taken off language--for worse or better, depending--- its natural. Too much of most anything is probably overdoing it, male or female, language or otherwise.

I NEVER-EVER heard one single cuss word come out of any of my relatives. (well, except for the last time I attempted to talk to my "father." Kinda' surprised me when he said --"tell him to go fuck himself," when i wanted to speak to him. Surprised me! My people were real bluenoses and cussing and sex was TABOO.

I cuss when I'm very passionate about something--usually politics. Or just jackin' around.

I certainly don't judge the women on the forum here by their cusswords. I just figure they're being expressive. No harm-no foul.

sometimes a cuss word can help get the fuckin' point across, but excessive use can make a person appear less intelligent, especially when used in serious discussions in place of proper and more descriptive adverbs.

you mean when aggressiveness was an all boys club and women were told to keep out?
did anyone really think that aborition, was likely to last more then a few centuries?

I've noticed on Bill Maher's weekly talk show on HBO, where you can say whatever you want, about half the male guests use it in casual conversation, and only about one woman a year on average will say it. So far, those few women have been comedians. Of course, profanity is more accepted in the comedy world than in most other places.

I think it's odd that an HBO show of that kind would lag behind the rest of society somewhat, since that network likes to push the limits. I guess the female guests are more worried about offending social conservatives than the men are. But... why would a social conservative be watching Bill Maher?

Firstly I dont like women behaving like men.
I'm happy with women speaking in some ways, and not speaking in others.

Likewise, there's certain ways of speaking I think are inappropriate for men, or indeed anyone.

It seems the word "****" is a big thing for some people. Just like "fuck" was in the past.

I think swearing or so called "swear words" need to be considered in context.

My mother would use phrases like "bugger off" or "get knotted" but never said the word "fuck".
I once told the Head at my school to "bugger off" and "get knotted", not because I lost my temper, but because she was a piece of shit.
I never saw them as "hardcore swearwords". It was later pointed out to me that they were. So the next time, I told the Head to go fuck herself.

When I was in high school, my best friends mom sat her and I down and gave us a talk about swearing and how boys wouldn't find us attractive if we swore. My friend looked her mom dead in the eyes and said

"Well, if that is true, then damn hell ass am I ever fucking ugly".

if he hadn't said that it's a swear word, i would have assumed it meant to get married.

actually, it still could be that.

Not only did girls/women not use swear words when I was young, not a single tattoo was in sight and nary a female hitchhiker was seen. Change was inevitable.

Now just about everyone has a tattoo!

And there are still plenty of people who think women shouldn't swear. Although it's way more acceptable now. I'm not a big swear-er, but a nice curse once in a while can really pack a punch and enhance what you're saying.

My son and his wife drop the f-bomb in just about every fucking sentence they say.

When the triplets were less than a year old, and their older sister was about five years old, we bought the babies a play corral baby fence portable kind of thing.

We put them down inside of it and the five year old stood outside for a minute, just looking at them in there.

Suddenly, she very soberly announced, "If I get in there, they will fuck me up!".

One of the funniest things I've ever heard.

I used to think it meant something about "tying yourself up in knots" ie being rendered unable to do anything.

However knotting actually means fucking animals.

i don't like gender based hypocracy. i don't think gender should have anything to do with it.
but i do observe, that by any rational measure, aggressiveness is what filth, evil, corruption and the very means that makes tyranny possible, are.
it doesn't make anyone a man or a woman, it makes them an ass hole.

Well its a free country where I live, and if I don't like something, I'll say so. Some people don't like rap music, or tennis. Big deal.

Likewise, I'll speak differently around my girl to around a bunch of guys in a pub. And women like it that way too. Doesn't mean they have been "exploited"/brainwashed. They've just exercised their right to decide for themselves. So for THEM, like me, sex ( or in your words "gender" ) has everything to do with it!

Similarly, I wouldn't like a male who wears flowery aprons, cooks cakes and sings the Sound of Music all day.

Men and women have different roles in society. Because they are fundamentally different Its the man's job to fight in a war/do dangeroustruloy exhausting jobs etc, should that ever happen. And the woman's to bring up the little kids/do "caring" jobs. Makes much more sense than the other way round. Yin and Yang. Put both together and you have the caring and the determined/resolute. That doesn't meet the definition of "hypocricy" because women are welcome to make their own views about men's failings.

As for the bit on aggression, I dont see how its relevant. If you're referring to me telling the school head to go fuck herself. Well actually, her colleagues burst out smiling, because she was a pyschopath and a bully of the very worst type.
