Yeah, we'll make a deal. Men like you promise to support the families (as most have it easier now that they have to work less hard, with thier womyn working, too  seeing as womyn don''t "have to" work, it is all perks for her man to have the extra money, right? ) these dudes have to support their womyn, take care of all the bills, make sure she has spending money, grocery money, money for medicine and for the kid's clothes, make up, clothing, things for the house, hell, give her the damn credit card and shut up, and equal decision making power, in the financial arena of the relationship, NO domestic abuse, NO child abuse, NO cheating, No leaving her alone to raise the kids alone, unless you keep supporting her and the kids the same as before, NO trailer park homes, NO rentals, NO porn hidden in the drop ceiling of the rec room, NO hidden gambling debts, nice houses and nice things, and living in nice areas, preferably with a lot of land, so we can grow our own food and put it up, cook and stuff, make our own granola, and things like make macrame and hemp necklaces and pot holders and sew the kid's clothing, and clean and shit, and if you don't have a womyn, one random single womyn and her children, if she has any, will be assigned to you to support, and we'll stay home..........maybe........if you keep your end of the bargain. Cuz, that's the way it was on Leave it to Beaver, wasn't it? Kind of.

I hope everyone knows my tongue is FIRMLY planted in my cheek... ;) I am NOT serious. Just being sarcastic, a little.................

Because this is a hippie forum for god sake, I thought people can come in & share there opinions & idea's without having them prejudiced. I don't care if you believe that terrorist are freedom fighters or Bush is a capitalistic saint, If want to bring up a comment it shouldn't be knocked down by people that (supposedly) are liberal. Obviously not, I've taken a left forum (to say) like this the wrong way.

But what can I say, most of these people on here flippin 15 year olds. You know here is a thought, how about giving thread starters the option to pick what age group are allowed to post on there thread.

    By the way, freakylady, your signature inspires me. vbmenu_register("postmenu_2256759", true);

you HAVE the right to start a discussion, and other HAVE the right to disagree with you. Just because you are older than others, doesn't mean you can block them from the discussion. This is not the way this forum works.

No one here was "prejudging" you, you stated an opinion, that many disagreed with. That isn't "prejudice." It is stating their opinions. NO WHERE on this site will you post something like this and just get nods of approval. I really have NO idea what you expected would happen.

No lady, you obviously don't know what you're talking about. Since for some reason or another, I'm the minority on this forum. Because of that, you're prejudging the right for a minority to express them self's. That's how you're being a prejudices & a bigot.

No matter, I'm just going to ignore you now because everything that comes out of your mouth are lies, big fat bigot lies. Hatemonger!

You know what... I tried hard to overlook it, but... I just found this post offensive. Apparently, Tony you must think the male population have greater needs than females. Well, let me enlighten you!

Not ALL women have parents who CAN support them. Not ALL women are blessed with parents, or a husband, who are even WILLING to do that. (and we wont even get on the subject of those poor women who are married to or are the children of/have children by deadbeats!!!) I for one was forced to move out, not really because of the expense of an extra mouth to feed, but for religious differences (my parents are in a rather cultish religion that I simply could not abide by anymore, and they forced me out) ... at any rate I was out on my own, both I and my 19 year old sister. I for one, could care less about my own life at that point (because the depression I had, used to make me feel like dying alot back then) ... but I didnt want my sister to have to be out on the streets, so I did everything I could, no matter what it took... to acquire something.

So as a female, Im speaking from experience, I KNOW the struggle of trying to keep a roof over my head because I had nowhere to turn or be left to the streets. I took whatever job I could take (not some job that was satisfactory, but a job that made me feel like the bottom-of-the-food-chain, but was an income, janitorial work) and I began renting-to-own an old trailer that was incredibly filthy, needing M A J O R repairs, just to be able to afford to live... both of us had to live in that nasty leaky mold infested thing and when we werent trying to make that livable... yes, we both of course worked jobs. She part-time and I fulltime and then reduced to part time. You know what we did for a living? We were residential and commercial cleaners. Now, I dare say that I know VERY FEW men who are willing to work in the cleaning industry, and its a DAMN DIRTY job but someone has to do it! It can be hard and very physical and disgusting, but it was a job, it served its purpose... she paid utilities and I paid the rent.

Let me also tell you something... if you look at the statistics, alot of those women who DO work, already get paid less than males of their equal. Many women struggle to make more than $12,000 a year... that is UNDER the poverty level. As for myself, I only managed about half of that last year. And so I could barely make ends meet. For a few months (and this is almost shameful to say, but, what the hell, right) I'd be forced to scavenge for food.. what was left on tables and trashcans or in the kitchens of the car dealerships/banks/etc that I'd clean at night... whenever I found something that looked edible and barely touched, I'd bring it home and be glad for what I'd find. Other nights I'd go hungry... and even when I had a little extra money, I rarely was able to get to the store because I didnt have a car (my job provided transport to work, at a cost to me of course), taxis were costly, I wasnt able to get out and apply for foodstamps and even missed dr appointments, because most days I had to sleep all day because the shift I was on at night was so taxing to my body... I also became dehydrated on top of all that, from sweating so much ... (thanks to being in southern SC summer humidity) had to take days off work to recover... bills kept getting behind... plus having clinical depression, my energy was always sucked out of me anyway, and so I was on a medication trying to fight that... (yes, I was trying to make it on my own rather than kiss up to the system for disability)...... And anyways thats what I endured for over a year... I scraped to get by, I did whatever it took for me to make a living. Let me ask you... have you ever eaten out of wastebaskets before? [IMG] If you have, I really doubt you would make narrow-minded posts... you'd know that gender has nothing to do with the struggle to survive, and both women and men have basic needs that must be met, sometimes at any cost. Need for shelter, and hunger, affects ALL.

Besides being the ONLY english person on our crew, I also worked along side ALOT of illegals. My boss was well aware of them. She'd often speak of other businesses she knew of who also hired them in the area. Alot of them are paid under the table. Whats really sick is how easily they acquire so many priveledges here.. they rent, they own, they drive, ... they get away with having a bunch of fake IDs of some sort.... I had one guy brag to me about how he had offenses on his licence so he switched IDs several times whenever he'd get stopped again... he pulled them out and showed them to me. They know how to work the system... how to get assistance... I used to be so angry when I'd see how they were just everywhere in the town, they took up all the cheap rentals, they were taking up the jobs, and I HATED them for how they seemed to mass produce... they were EVERYWHERE. But while working that job... I got to know a few of them. I got to hear some of their stories...... such as the 14 year old (can we say child labor law?) mex girl I befriended (HARDEST worker I ever saw, in fact) who worked both night and day shifts, and not a complaint, because where she was from she used to work in the fields all day for practically nothing. Now, she's sending her money there to help support her family and sick mother. And, although I still hate seeing how illegal immigrants have stolen jobs from us blah blah blah ... I also saw a great deal of truth of the human condition. If I were in her shoes... wouldnt I have done the same thing? Can you blame them? How can one criticise without at least feeling a bit of compassion?

And on top of that, then there was the black and white issue. You know what Tony... I wonder how many people would be breathing down my throat, if I were to make a random post and say, well, what YOU said, but just rewording and changing the "females", to "blacks": ... "It should be illegal for blacks to work. In my city all there are is black workers. They work the service jobs, factory jobs, ..... and, they get the United Negro College Fund!.... what about us white people?" Can you imagine the outrage I'd hear? Gives you an idea of how your post sounded to us women. Wanna know what's sad? I used to think like that.It was hard not to. I lived in a coastal town where -besides the steadily-growing immigrant population- over 80% of the locals seemed to be black... offspring from the slave days who's generations remained in that town and flourished. I used to get frustrated, because I often felt overlooked for jobs I applied at because the majority were black, and those in charge of hiring were black. I felt that they moved them to the top of the lists. It infuriated me. (And anyone reading this, please dont get me wrong, I am not racist, I am just trying to make a point) But the fact is that I had no more rights to a job than any one of them. They probably didnt like me, for moving in and trying to take jobs away from them! Because the truth was, most whites who moved into that area where rich retirees who bought up their land and built gated communities and slowly were taking over. So I can see how the locals probably saw me as just another threat to them. Stuff like that goes both ways. While Im still inclined to say I wasnt hired at alot of jobs because those in charge of hiring were partial to the locals... I still cant say for sure, and its not up to me, and employment was found elsewhere... I just had to keep looking. Those were the circumstances... and I had to find ways around it. EOE ... take it or leave it.

When job searching "persistence" MUST be part of the vocabulary... ya know, Try, try again? When one door closes... another will open? I feel for you because it is FRUSTRATING when nothing seemingly is available. But you cant blame others, race or gender or whatever... because the fact is, we are ALL in the same fucking boat!!! We are ALL just trying to make a living regardless of our circumstances! All any of us can do is KEEP TRYING. Some towns just dont have much available. Sometimes people have to move to find employment.

As far as men like you being forced to join the military when all else fails...... I dont feel sorry for them at all. Alot of women have to do the same damn thing when they have no other options. My sister came close to enlisting for the same reasons until we talked her out of it!

Let me tell you what happens to a 25 year old woman such as myself, who for one reason or other, becomes unable to work (I became unable to keep up with that first job, and then was fired from the next one, both because of my problems) ... ? Well, she loses all that she works for... has her trailer repossessed... she is forced back on her parents, who though more willing to accept us both back this time, really cant afford to have us live with them anyways because now they are also living on a fixed income. ... and so the bitter cycle continues... Have you ever known what it feels like to be a burden, Tony? Because I do. And it's worse than not having a job.

The point of my post is... sometimes, we dont predict what we have to do in life, sometimes our circumstances do that for us. Like it or not, the female population has the same damn stress about work as you do... because they are EXPECTED (and sometimes out of sheer necessity) these days, to support themselves. So, do us all a favor, stop whining, there are jobs out there. Go check out some Temp. agencies in your area... thats their job, to find you SOMETHING. (and in some cases if you are not employed you may be qualified for college training through programs such as WIA) Or... just keep doing what you are doing. It might not be something you like, oh well. Sometimes the first step to getting steady employment is to first accept jobs that we cant even see ourselves doing (such as cleaning up peoples shit flecks from toilet seats...) just to show we have some type of work history. If you dont have a resume, build it up by taking a job ANYWHERE. Start at the very bottom if necessary and work your way up if you dont like whats available.

And dont you just HATE to hear that? I know I did. I always hated hearing people tell me that... "start at the bottom and work your way up" ... [IMG] Its depressing, its frustrating, because so many of us have slaved away trying to "work our ways up" only to be overcome by obstacle after obstacle and sometimes falling completely to the bottom and losing everything we have in the process. And looking out and feeling envy towards those who somehow have mastered great accomplishments... in reality most of us would work our whole lives and still be somewhere down at the bottom... its sad. That's why I totally understand now... why "dropping out" of the whole damn thing, is so appealing... [IMG]

Sorry if Ive sounded harsh in this post, and I know it's very lengthy, but I just wanted to tell you that there are women who find themselves in the same position as you. And trust me, we dont like working any more than we have to. For some women, its not a choice, it's just what life has heaped on our shoulders. The world today is no respector of gender.

Anyways, good luck in finding employment,
    -jamie

One more quick thought... we should be blaming overpopulation for playing a big part in this.

(So it's a good thing that alot of women have decided not to stay home and produce more children!... ;)

    wow... just wow

Most women work because we have to, we have expenses, bills, food and shelter issues to deal with. $200 in rent in New York sounds dreadfully cheap (probably cost of food and electricity that you use)

Be angry with the job market, not the people who are in it. Be upset with all the outsourcing going on to other nations if you must, but don't be upset at half the damn population because they were able to find jobs when you weren't

No Tony, we're just disagreeing with you entirely and trying to make you see the error of your thinking. Are you prejudging the right for another person to express their opinions? Are you been a bigot against the women that respond on here because they are the women 'stealing your jobs'? It seems that you don't like people disagreeing with you. Feel free to prove me wrong. I disagree with you and I'm not a liar, a bigot or a hatemonger. I love free speech. Women have the right to work and live their lives as they please, and there isn't a single thing or reason in the whole world that you could use to convince me otherwise.

    Peace

I also meant to say that the people you know/knew (sorry to hear they were killed) are fighting to secure the Oil in Iraq in my opinion, not to let women and illegal immigrants work (please tell me you don't believe that's the reason).

Bush: "I know, let's invade Iraq"
    Cheney: "Why?"
Bush: "Because we need more jobs for women and illegal immigrants"
Cheney: "Won't that cost money allowing them to work?"
Bush: "Although illegal immigrants get paid alot and women receive slightly more pay than men for doing the same job, our economy is so strong it doesn't matter"
Cheney: "Ah yes, you're right. To the UN....."

    Peace

I have been to University and am a qualified teacher but have had to resort to selling bloody cellphones so my kids can eat as gettin jobs isn't easy no matter who you are.

Dude , stop all the whining...if it's that bad , then move , get outta there & go somewhere better. If it's that bad then I'd say that you have Nothing to lose , move on,it can only get better , Right !?
Getting mad at other people for your problem isn't gonna help out the situation.
I wont even get started on the "Women Shouldn't Be Allowed To Work" , that's just silly....Best of luck to ya
