At the risk of making an off topic post, I would like to make the observation that the moderators of this board do a difficult job for little remuneration beyond the respect of the regulars on this board. The people skills needed to maintain the flow of opinion, fact, foolishness and ego that one sees on this board are not common. While those skills are valuable, they do not result in high pay. This is an unfortunate thread for you to see Maggie Sugar's moderator's skill. IMO, this exchange was not her finest hour.

Any moderator of any board has the difficult task of understanding and being understood without the advantage of vocal tones or facial expressions. From what I have seen, the moderators on this board have higher than adverage skills.

Most of the regulars on this board respect Maggie (never use all when refrering to a bunch of hippies), both for the breadth of her medical knowlege and for her caring about the posters on this board.

    But back to the topic:
What point do you think was made:

1)Women (in general) need jobs less than men.
2)Someone should have the authority to see that jobs go to the most deserving.
3)Individual women, regardless of their individual situation, should be bound by the generality in #1.

Or did you see something that I didn't.

Aren't you the pot calling the kettle black? Is 'Grow up you lil prick' not a personal insult as well as name calling?
You shouldn't say things like that unless you can do them yourself. ;)

I was refering to my regular job. I don't work 9 to 5, I apoligise if anyone thought I was refering to my Mod duties. That was NOT my intent. The job I do, as a profession, requires a college degree, a post grad degree, and experience with breastfeeding mothers, as well as sitting for difficult Internation Boards. I was being a bit of a jerk when I posted this, I just wanted to see what he would say. The job I do as a PROFESSION is not something Tony could do in his wildest dreams. My profession requies lots of education, training, and NO whining. That was my point. I guess I assumed people would know I was talking about my profesesion, not my Mod duties. There is a huge difference. We don't get paid to be Mods, and that it didn't even occur to me that people would think I was talking about Mod duties in my rather bratty post.

    :&

    Sorry.

    Dirk,
The post I quoted mentioined some "valid points." I was listing what I thought those "valid points" might be and asking clarification from the person I quoted.

If my reading of his post was correct, my next step would have been to point out the errors in those points, just as you have done.

Well, Tony, since you don't want women to work, what should they be doing? I'm just curious. Not trying to be a jerk or anything.

But...I have a problem too...there are mostly men that work in the town I live in. Maybe they shouldn't work, so some of my female friends can get a job. :)

Well I am going to give you credit for starting a HOT thread. You have had more posts in 3 days than anything else I have seen on here. You might not be as ignorant as you sound.

BUT, if you really believe what you first stated and IF you really want honest feedback, I have a few thoughts.

Heron made a good point that you could go to Afghanistan and live in a male ruled society, but you would face 40% unemployment. So your thinking that women not working would create jobs would have the opposite effect.

If you look at New Orleans for example, jobs create more jobs. That cities’ infrastructure
is seriously compromised. The 400,000 displaced people created jobs that supported each other. But when the city dropped 80% of it occupancy, how do you decide who is most important and who should return first? If you don't have the masses, you don't need the masses. If there are fewer people, you need fewer teachers, grocery clerks, car salesmen, insurance agents, firemen, ect. My point is that the more people working create a larger economic base which continues to feed more jobs.

If you really can not find a job, you are in need of training. There has to be something you can do, and enjoy doing it. Being a previous business owner, and someone who hired people, I was first concerned about their attitude. I could teach just about any job to an average person, but I could not FIX years of negative thinking. If you can fix that before you make a first impression, you will see a different outcome.

Burning down the courthouse is just scary thinking. If you really think that way, there is no help for you. You are part of society’s problems, and I doubt you really want a solution. I would hate to trade you in the work place for all the women who are much better workers than you would ever become.

Get training; get professional help, and good luck.
    James

PS.. SILENTNEWAGE you are a STONE COLD FOX.. damn.

Your egotistical categorizing & falsifying fabricated level of intellectual control over my implying. So because you have a college education, training, etc.. Makes you somehow better than your peers? Better than me? That's just being a pompous ass, you shouldn't just apologize over the pass post, but also this one, for your outrages accusations toward me.

Uh, you have the education and training to be a Professional Lactation Consultant?

There is nothing egotistical about what I posted. It is simply the truth. You get education, and training (which takes a LOT Of work, self discipline and self control) and you have work, usually. There are people with advanced degrees who cannot find work, because our economy sucks. But, with a refusal to get an education, or get any training, expecting to be handed a job is a bit of a fantasy.

You think, without schooling and training, you will be able to get a job of any worth? Even IF no womyn were working? Try again.

    Hello?

I think my question was a valid question, Tony...

What SHOULD be women doing instead of working?

*raises hand* Pick me! Pick me!

I'm done here. I'll be monitoring it for personal attack. Aside from that, this is getting silly.

Tony, Tex was correct. Get some help. You are exibiting some serious symptoms of paranoia and mood disorders.

No one here "hates" you. We feel bad, that your paranoia prevents you from functioning.

    Peace and healing.

    ps
I would like to know that. ;)

I see you can throw around big words....but, could you do Maggie's job?
She wasn't being a pompous ass....just explaining her job....and asking if you thought you could do it. Why is that pompous? Because she's a WOMAN and better qualified for a JOB than you?

Women should be in the kitchen slaving over the stove all day so when 'men' like Tony get back from their 'jobs' they'll have something to eat. Since we're OHSO disqualified to handle a job....

Ok, say I'm an employer with two job openings. I get 50 applications for those two jobs. Automatically there are going to be 48 people who don't get a job with me. If I were going to give every applicant a fair shake, I'd call them all in for a two hour interview. But I have only two weeks to fill the positions and I have other duties besides. Obviously, I need some way to weed through the applications so that my task is not completely overwhelming. Let's see, here's one with terrible spelling and grammar. Might as well toss that one aside. I want someone who is conscientious, careful and reasonably educated. I'm not even going to look to see what qualifications this applicant might have.
Say, for arguement sake that I actually look into the applicant's qualifications. What do I see? I see a 23 year old with no work history and only a high school degree. Well, heck I got 12 applications from people with bachelors degrees. Even if those degrees aren't related to my field, they show that those people apply themselves and get things done. But, say I have some pity and call this applicant in anyway. I'm feeling charitable today. Into my office comes this greasy [you do call yourself that] young man with a chip on his shoulder the size of the whole city. He also displays a great deal of disrespect for other people and an attitude that the world owes him something.
Now, Tony, tell me... why in the world would I want to hire someone like that?

I think moon_flower hates Tony. She should go to a psycologist.
