good, we've evolved to the point where we save a syllable.

people aren't trying to insult homosexuals, just like they weren't trying to insult dullards when saying "that's stupid." it's just a phrase that people choose to be offended by to get attention.

doesn't wanda sykes realize that's she's insulting people who can't talk when she calls the salt shaker dumb?

I've wrestled with my habit of calling things gay; I've tried to stop saying it before just because it offends people and may give some the wrong ideas about me.

However, I do fully agree with this.

The evolution of words is a funny thing.

Once, gay meant happy. Then it meant homosexual. Now, it means lame.

The blacks went and found a new word when they thought negro had picked up a bad connotation; and homosexual seemed to be the preferred term before gay picked up it's bad one. I don't see why it's such a big deal.

I thinks Brit-ians should stop calling cigarettes "fags"...it totally throws off the negative connotations

The word "hero" seems to be heavily overused for about ten years now.

Especially when every dead person automatically becomes a hero.

words change meaning all the time. heterosexual used to mean a perverse sexual desire for someone of the opposite sex. and now it just means the norm. whats worthy of studying is why words change the way they do. and then we start to see the dominate discourses and powers at be... a word like heterosexual used to be perverse, but now that we have homosexuals (someone more perverse) hetero became normalized.

White, middle-upper class, heterosexual, men get all the perks. everyone else just has to change the words they use to describe themselves once those in power start using them in demeaning ways. yes. perfect.
