You misunderstand or misinterpret my words. Certainly no Christian, or anyone for that matter, should accept another's opinion as truth - or gospel if you will. What we should, and must accept is the fact that others have opinions which may be right or may be wrong as are our own. To listen to other opinions coupled with study of scripture and context, our eyes may be opened to Christ truths that we never would have imagined using our own frame of reference and our current sources. Is that not what growing in Christ means? To listen, to study, to pray - and yes, some of those we may listen to may not say things we like nor understand. But they must be allowed to have an opinion other than yours if they feel that is Gods truth. My fear is that a demise of the Word of Christ within humankind will come because those of us who believe do not listen to or comprehend what others are saying. Our clothes must stay the same as 1983, our songs must be the same as 1759 because that is what you are comfortable with in your beliefs. But people's clothes change, technology changes, songs change, worship centers change - any many feel we must hold onto what we first found. Listen, pray, study, meditate, seek truth even if it is uncomfortable - seek the wisdom of others if it is of God - because it may be.
