all im saying is just because youre at peace with yourself and you can act kindly does not mean everyone in the world would. You cant reason with everyone. Try explaining evolution for example to a Christian. Peoples views and beliefs differ. Not everyone wants whats best for others.

What does kindness have to do with evolution? Not everyone wants the best for others, true. But everyone is capable of wanting the best for others and given the right circumstances, that ability can be triggered in any or even all people. The only thing holding us back is when we convince ourselves that something is not possible. It is nt about reasoning with people or explaining or any such thing. It is simply about love.

Every single human being wants to be loved and accepted. If I could love unconditionally, then I promise you, the entire world will love me. This is obvious from the lives of all great saints. Forget people, in the ashram of Ramana Maharishi even natural enemies like snakes and mongooses lived together in harmony. If he can find in himself such complete all encompassing love, so can we. Then, it doesnt even matter whether or not others love us back, we love them. And the more people become like that, the better and more peaceful the world becomes, until eventually, we do find world peace. This is possible, it is practical, it is real. It is also very difficult. But try, we must.

But with new humans being born every day, the world changes everyday and people think differently. MY idea of World Peace is just that one instance, where everything on earth is just complete and perfect. World Peace wont last, it will be just one instance, like heaven on earth, when everything just works together.

Yeah, that's why they shot Ghandi.

I don't really disagree with you, but hatered is too deeply ingrained for me to see much hope. Whites hating blacks, Christians hating gays, Muslims hating Westerners, Catholics hating Protestants. Seems people don't want and can't deal with diversity, they want everyone the same; to be just like them, because they're right and everyone else who thinks otherwise is wrong wrong wrong.

You say we're all capable, this is true. But we're all also capable of murder and other unspeakable things. Yet most of us don't do it. Well, to a gay-bashing christian, it would be almost as unspeakable to accept gays as it would be to kill someone. It may be that they are capable of it, but, like I view murder, it is an abhorrent thought to them. How can you change minds when even the religion they so love to praise, a religion of love, will not penetrate their hate?

You agree that we are capable of unconditional pure love, so you agree that it is possible to have world peace. And about changing people's minds, it is possible!, Gandhi changed people's lives, he changed their hearts too. You might say "Oh yea its not possible to be like him" , but it is. It takes a great amount of strength for people to tolerate others, but if we all gain that strength then we can tolerate people. Everyone can tolerate everyone else.

This last page of this thread is amazing. :) I very much agree with both Bhaskar and Jedi. I really do think its possible. Imho, I think that that is one of the most important duties that we have in this life: to love. And we can do our work, whatever it maybe, whoever we are, but underneith it all, have this humming, constant, unconditional love...how wonderful! And its is so possible...if we believe it is. Its sort of like that saying that if you set your mind to it, you can do anything...then if we try with everything we have to be constant sources of love...fountains of love...then it will happen. No one said it would be easy...but if we really try hard enough...I believe that it is possible...and it only stops when we shoot down the idea....

We should just try to make it happen, not wait to see it.
