Well if your church only reads half of the bible then you can walk away with half of the truth. The bible states that most people will reject God and His truth. The church is not nearly as important as the word of God. And it is in the bible where you will find the truth and Gods plan for this world. I don't see much love in a country that has butchered 40 million of it's own citizens. Does your church support abortion? Do they support political groups that support abortion? Do you believe in a womans right to murder her baby? Just what do you and your church actually believe?
I know much of the scrolls, like, for example, we would still not know what they contained if it was up to the church. They kept their contents secret for 50 years, and the death of a person with copies of them is the only reason they were able to be made public. Why would they keep them secret?
Good points, if only the men who interpreted it had taught that we were instructed to be stewards of this world, instead of 'have dominion over it', think of the difference that would have made.....
People who know Rabbis must be married would need an explanation, there is none. Jesus ate. children?, exactly my point.
Whatever happened to banning for getting off topic in this forum? Does that not apply to these little Jesus humpers anymore? Nobody gives a shit about your lies, why dont you all get out of here and head to some Bush rally, I'm sure he would love your company there.
Campbell, you seem to think you know the bible so well, but I think you skipped over this passage: 1 Peter 5: 2-4 (NIV) 2.)Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers--not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; 3.)not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 4.)And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. And I have to say, campbell, you are being a poor example. Judgemental, holier-than-thou christians are not really doing their lords work.
wait, since when has thinking that the bible made no sense been a trend? People have always been doing it out of being confused by contradictions found in it. Also, of course there will be sites about the proof of the bible. Most of them were probably made in an attempt to makeget other people to believe in what it says. Anyone who uses the internet alot can tell you that it's not a very reliable source for much.
We hardly ever even touch it. Plus the love doesn't always have to be at the surface. There is no official 'church belief'. The majority of us are in fact pro-choice, but there are also some of us who are prolife. We all mostly think for ourselves about every issue that you've brought up in this thread. What denomination are you a part of, anyway?
well, nevermind, there are some church beliefs, but nothing that would be all that coherent to political beliefs. i'm not a great writer, don't use that against me.
Here are some of my thoughts about what the Bible is good for, gleaned from three read throughs, plus three years in a Christian school. Firstly, The King James Bible, which is likely the best seller, is great for learning what 16th Century male attitudes were like. There are some quite good depictions of life in the Middle East 2000 years ago, and some characters are even mentioned by other sources than the 4 gospels and Josephus. ie: Herod, Pontius Pilate It is educational, ie: you can see that the Babylonian seven day week, and the Garden of Eden, Adam as the first earthling, were adopted by the Jews, during their captivity. The opening verses are a great copy of the beginning of the Vedas. You can use it to start a debate, and never run out of topics, it is an endless source of them. I highly recommend Numbers, and Judges, as chapters that worked 100% of the time for me to cure insomnia. It is a great tool to use when observing Christians, as you can see how closely they are following Yeshua's example and teachings. You may be surprised to know that many are not even close! It also gives a deep insight into the kind of ambiguous writing that is required to allow its use to support almost any action or belief, such as genocide, racism, oppression, and more.
No it was not the Church that had the scrolls, but the Jews. And they were the one's who would not release them. And the reason we got to see them after 50 years was because they had this company in California take pictures of them, and it was that group that released those pictures. Making it possible for the world to see them. The reason the Jews did not want to release them is because the prophecies of Jesus were also in those scrolls which they could nolonger hide.
Yet, Jesus didn't abide by the rules of the Jewish officials. He healed others on the sabbath day, which the Jews pointed out, He got angry at them and overturned their money tables. He also called them hypocrites and said they worshipped with their lips but not their hearts. Therefore, he would have no need to abide by a law that says a Rabbi must be married. I didn't say Jesus never ate, I said he fasted a lot. God came here to spread his ministry on earth and give us salvation. Not to have a family.
Well first of all most of the people here don't believe in Jesus so you really can't consider them God's flock. Jesus states that my flock hear my voice and they follow me. I don't see to many here doing that. And the thing I am talking about supports scripture. The bible clearly teaches that not many people will be getting the crown of glory. In Gods eyes I am no better than any of you, but the thing that makes the difference is that 43 years ago I became a born again christian. I guess to be a good example Christians should keep their mouth shut and just let the world go to hell. And I guess as soon as we try and tell people the truth, we should expect to be called Judgemental and holier-than-thou types. Jesus states that believer's love the truth but the world hates it. Jesus also said that if they hate you don't feel bad, they hated me first. You have all made bold statements to me and when I respond you call that lording over. WOW.
I have been to a number of Christian churches. But just consider myself to be a born again christian. I do not attend any church. My job keeps me busy every saturday and sunday so church is pretty much out of the question. When you say you are pro-choice what that means to me is pro murder. There was a time in this country where children had value. Now they are things we keep or just throw away. American's have know idea what they have done, but the God of the bible is not going to let America get away with it. There are very dark days coming to America.
Yes the bible is used for everything today, yet this does not make it untrue. Also when you look to the bible and it's historical accounts, we are now finding that those old stories are true. The Children of Israel crossing the Red Sea for one. They have discovered where that really took place. And divers are now finding what was left of Pharaoh's army on the sea floor. Not far from there they have discovered the real Mt.Sinia, with the burnt top and the split rock of hebron. Jesus said many people would worship Him with their lips but their hearts are far from Him. The facts are not many people have a real personal relationship with Him. Jesus even asks the question that when He returns would He find any faith left on the earth? There are a lot of so called christians but few who really love God. And that is the way the bible said it would be.
Those are excellent points. Jesus never tried to follow tradition He was always doing just the opposite. And that is one of the things that made the Jews so angery.
No, it was you that came here and told us that we are all going to be killed by russia and that we are evil, and that you have actual proof of this, etc.... There is a large difference between sharing your faith, and preaching hellfire and doom.
Finding chariot wheels in the bottom of the sea does not prove that the red sea crossing toook place, it just proves that there was a chariot wheel at the bottom of the sea. There is a lot of werkage at the bottom of that sea. And don't forget, the man claiming to have found these sites also claims to have tested Christ's DNA and claims that it is the blood of a virgin.
I would like to further add that the chariot wheels that Wyatt claimed to find on the bottom of the red sea have never been made available to any archeologist. All that exists is a photograph. The United Kingdom Ministry of Defense has extensively charted the bottom of the Red Sea, and has concluded that no land bridge exists, as has also been claimed. The claim of a Saudi Arabian location of Mt. Sinai has also been adequately disproved by plenty of researchers that had visited the site before Wyatt. Simply stated, Mt. Sinai should be located in the Sinai Peninsula right where the Bible places it, not in Saudi Arabia.
