i don't think anyone is completely ready. i have to jump through financial hoops to get closer to buying some land, bribing some government officials and building a dream residence. currently on the drawing board is an ICF combination longhouse and stables, set into a slope with room for 8 families to have extra space, and 16 families to live with reasonable comfort. the problem is that i don't have a piece of paper that says im qualified to design structures, but i know its over engineered most of the time. how prepared are you? im quite high and my curiosity is piqued.
actually i don't know.. but if i was left out of house and home.. i could survive with what i own.. i can fish/hunt.. trap if i needed to.. i know how to clean and cut meats.. i know some basic wilderness survival.. can recognize some edible foliage.. building fires with primitive means... sewing.. plus what i dont know.. i have enough body fat to have the time to learn lol
i need to learn the hands on stuff. i think we are going to take a wilderness class this year. i need to learn tracking, identifying edibles and medicinals, and get familiar with a weapon. im usually a heavy blunt object person, but im going to learn how to use a sling. i have just never had a chance to try out any of the things i've read about. its so frustrating, if my family wasn't keeping me in the populated areas i'd move. as it is the land i want is expensive, and generally not up for sale. this year im going to plant an herb/ vegetable garden to get some practice in. did you know that you shouldn't put tomato, potato or eggplant remnants in the compost pile, because they are in the nightshade family? i like all three of those things. my dad makes killer fried eggplant.
