the fact is, most here say they wouldn't. but if such a offer was massively advertised on TV in a well polished scheme millions of Americans would be on the wagon.

the media has a unique way of manipulating a general consensus.

Yea, I'm sure, a lot of people say a lot of things but do something differently... really if I want news and information that is what I have the interent for.

I don't know about that, because I've noticed in my personal life that even people that used to watch these stations are not viewing them nearly as much as they used too ,if at all.And it's not because of the internet either, its because so many are realizing what nonsense CNN/Fox etc. are.--I mean really,- propaganda, incompetence, shit stirring ,loudmouth annoying anchormen/women-- in between endless commercials turns off even the most tolerant viewer.

you don't know? how many of us have a cable package maxed out with channels, when 95 percent are never viewed?

people are still subscribing to cable companies despite their own taste and views and rather than choose programming alternatives, most are simply doing what is advertised.

this extends to all facets of consumerism. credit cards, car loans, style of dress, acceptable behavior...etc... it's all dictated by media and absorbed by the mass. in short, this is our culture. ie how you can exploit others for gains and it's measured by how well it is assimilated in the main stay. imo.
in turn, this measurement is the standard when success is evaluated. that's why material gains are the status of success individually and not merits.

rambleON,Yes I do agree with you that far to many people are easily influenced by the media, advertising etc.---However I think the first company(assuming they do it the right way,low cost etc.) that introduces a way where people can pick and choose their own stations is going to a big success. It would be great for the viewer, and would eventually be the only way cable/satellite tv companies would be able to operate.

I would LOVE to have the ability to choose my own channels without having to pay for the crap I don't watch. And to be able to have Comedy Central would just be the bee's knees, man.

Speaking of comedy central earlier today I was watching Norm MacDonald (formerly of SNL) doing his stand up routine - funny as hell :cheers2:
