Wow how estrange are you from family?

Because my brother is mentally handicapped. He's 19 and he can't do a thing for himself, eventually I'm going to have to figure out what to do about my mom because it's killing me not being able to see him.

 

I don't speak to my mother, and I haven't for quite some time. I miss my Dad like crazy, but don't get to see him very much because of her. She's a very talented manipulator, and has turned my younger brother against me and my sister....with help from his girlfriend who is a little clone of our mother. He won't speak to us. I saw him driving down the road once, and he flipped me off. It's fucked up because for so many years my sister and I protected him from our mother, and now he hates us because of all the lies she's fed him.

It really bothers me having such negative feelings towards my own mother, but she is a bad person. If I told you some of the things she put us through you would cringe at the thought. I know at some point I'm going to have to learn to be around her for the sake of my Dad, but I can't figure out how. Every time I see her this deep seated anger and resentment comes up out of my soul and eats at me. I miss hangin out with my Dad so much, but being around his wife turns me into an angry person that I despise.

My sister however, is my best friend. Throughout our childhood we were forced to take care of each other, and it's carried over into adulthood. She's my rock, the one thing that I know will be there for me no matter what. I'm so greatful for having her in my life. If it wasn't for her I don't know where I'd be today. And she says the same about me.

 

My Dad died in 1989. I haven't had a conversation with my Mom for at least the last 7 years. She has severe dementia and doesn't have a clue who I am. If it wasn't for these 2 things I would be in constant contact with them.

 

I'm actually rather close to my family.. Most of it. Never knew my father. I was a one night stand in the 60s. Only sibling I don't talk to much is my oldest brother, granted he is serving three life sentences for murder.
