I started when I was around 12 too, but I didn't really start blazing mad ammounts until I was about 14... Is this study overexadgerated, because I get mixed opinions from different people on the subject...

"Approximately 2 to 3 percent of youth and young adults develop schizophrenia or a severe, psychotic mood disorder, with most cases developing after age 12. Psychotic illness is crippling:" - from http://www.schizophrenia.com/sznews/archives/004877.html

so 12-18% of us will develop schizophrenia.? I'll take my chances, I wouldn't turn down a Thorazine script.

im diagnosed paranoid schizo, first believed to be schizoaffective as of a year ago.. i have and continue to smoke 50+ bowls a day and use other heavy psychedelic drugs. keeps me more level then those damn meds. to each their own i guess. i dont believe weed or any drug besides my week long meth binges with no sleep or food had anything to do with my schizophrenia. and to the above poster who wants to be on anti psychotic meds??? they fuck you up 100 times more then any drug i ever seen on the street. they make you gain weight like hell and turn you into a brain dead fuckin zombie. sorry if that insults you but i found that to be quite a stupid thing to say.

with all that been said, whos packin next round????

Psycho_delic, you probably self medicate your symptoms with weed. CBD is an antipsychotic. I think it can be a harm and a help.. A lot of people with schizophrenia do that, and its a problem of direction that a lot of medical professionals ignore. Did the weed contribute to your problem, or is the weed smoking a symptom of the problem...

And yeah Ive seen people completely lose it on meth. Meth psychosis is almost identical to schizophrenia clinically..

fortantly i was way too smart for my age and didn't use marijuana until i was 18 (the summer after Senior year of Highschool) and i love it and praise its use more then any of my friends that have been using it sense like 14yrs. of age.. oddly enough my first 'high' was from Hydrocodone at like 17... but my opie experiences were far and few between until the end of my freshmen yr of College...lol..SUBOXONE saves the day...

its still probably not likely, because skidso ppl arent that common.

only seen one once, when i was in dc some dude was sitting on those things that hold newspapers for sale and talking back and forth to himself.
    kinda loud too. :p

lol how little you people know aboput schizophrenia is amazing. just because you have all the WARNING SIGNS doesnt mean you have the SYMPTOMS of schizophrenia or will even get them... and you dont create schizophrenia you trigger it off. weed will trigger it off but not cause the actual illness itself.. if you are supposed to be schizo chances are even if you dont smoke weed alot you will still be a schizo weed just speeds up the process.

and to phishdeadhead im pretty insulted by the last part of your post. how do you even know he was a schizo?? cause he was talking to himself?? its a proven fact that people JUST going thru a hard time in life can hear voices blah blah blah and not be schizophrenic. you also made it sound like just because a person has schizophrenia it automatically makes them some freak hobo on the corner selling newspapers. i believe 2 percent of all people are schizophrenic or something like that and if you do the math thats millions of people. not exactly uncommon... dont assume so much

I think the homeless people in question are usually schizoid personality disorder, not schizophrenia
