    Nice Jasper

Just smoked my first bowl of the day. Pretty ripped since I opted not to get high yesterday.

Went with the Venom OG this morning. Not the most potent (a tad over 21%) but all around nice, with that fuelly OG on the exhale. Nice aftertaste too. Plus it was on sale, can't go wrong with that.

baby Oz and i are both sick. what a miserable cold and cough. he cant take anything, though i did put a shot of bay leaf tea in a bottle of formula for him last night. hes napping now. no fever, but the cough is gnarly. i threw my back out coughing, and thanks to stress incontinence i have to take extreme measures to stay comfortable.

bleh. what a miserable sickness. and of course- no days off for moms!

I think one of my loaches is sick. He likes to sleep upside down. =\
So in trying to fish him out now for a replacement. I bought two more yesterday and they aren't as girls blouse as the first two. They went straight to the bottom for snail feeding and we can see half eaten snails all over the place so that's awesome and they didn't care about the bigger fish like the last two. You give hungry fish food and they soon grow a pair. :D

I hope everybody gets to feeling better -

Chad, it sounds like you're coming along. :) Ori and Mother's Love...what in the world?! [IMG] [IMG]

and just so y'all can hear how stupid I am...I want to know what OG stands for, as far as in relation to weed...you hear OG Kush a lot. Well I hear it a lot here at hf

I even googled it and the best thing I found out was I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WONDERING THAT. lol That did make me feel somewhat less stupid...the references "think" (nobody was sure) it stood for Ocean Grown.

1st - every time I read you write "girls blouse" it makes me [IMG] :D :D

Dealing with fish in an aquarium will never be my thing. I like looking at them when I go places that have them (such as at my chiropractor's and dentist's offices) but I know you aren't supposed to put certain fish together or they'll eat each other. Then you have to make sure everything is clean or fungus (or something else) can kill them too. You have to make sure there is a filter and the temp is right. good grief...I'm SURE there are other things you have to keep up with too. :dizzy2:

When I was a kid to teen we would occasionally have gold fish and I couldn't even get them out of the fish bowl without about killing them smushing them against the glass to get them out.

Cats and dogs - feed them, water them and keep them sheltered...I can handle that. :D

Why I use the term girls blouse or how I got it came from a tradesperson friend of my daddy's and I guess it was like an Aussie way of saying someone was a girl. But he'd always say things like "look at this girls blouse, stop being a girls blouse!" And things like that to his sons. That's where I picked it up from and also because I know guys don't like being called that. =p actually I think this man has a few slangs and way of words I've learned from him, such as calling people big nuts and big balls in a positive way. =p

Fish tanks are easily manageable if you just cycle them and leave them alone. When we first tried ten years ago we bought all the water tests and according to them we needed chemical after chemical. Naturally nothing would last or survive but when we bought our tank now about 5 years ago we did it correctly from day one.

We bought the tank and features etc. filtered the gravel out. Laid it all out, filled half with water let it settle. Then add the chemicals and let it settle. Filled it up and let it settle for a week with the heater and filter. Basically encouraging it to grow its own bacteria. After a week we tested the water and it was good. We put in one fighting fish and let him have it. I remember he was so small in that tank and overwhelmed hehe. Anyway we waited another week. Water was good, fish was good, tank had cycled then you can buy your fish. But you can't overcrowd. I mean the tank may look big enough to hold twenty fish, but it really shouldn't. Once the tank is cycled though that's really it. We only clean ours every few months and honestly after 5 years I've never "cleaned" it, only ever topped up and take out water. It's out of sunlight so no algae can grow and our fish seem to keep it super clean. Our two sharks are always cleaning. Two catfish endlessly clean and the plethora of snails clean it too. I guess with my 4 loaches and soon to be only 3 we have too many bottom feeders but they're getting along. :)

But yeah. Once tank is going well the worst thing you can do is keep checking it etc. and honestly I have no clue if out water situation has ever been correct for the fish. PH and nitrate levels favor different fish hell we just throw any fish in there and it has to deal with the conditions and they always will. I think there's too much emphasis and instructions on proper aquarium maintenance and the best thing to do is simply leave it alone and let the fish figure all out. :)

I'm doing well...have washed several loads of clothes, taken out cat litter pans (yeah, nobody wants to hear about that lol :D ) and petted the new pregnant queen cat on the porch, who I've dubbed "Princess".

I used to read ALL non-fiction (for years). Now I occasionally read non-fiction. For the most part I read either fluff or super good fiction. :D I've also been playing the piano some since my night playing (late late night/early morning) privileges have been taken away. Getting older and trying to keep the brain juices flowing is tough damn work, especially when you aren't interested in doing anything you don't want to do. :D

I need to go and cook some stuff up but I'm putting that off. I can hear Mama rambling around in the kitchen doing God knows what (making a mess for me to clean lol)

Good buds, good friends, good food, good books = good life :smoking:

Haha that's funny I was the exact opposite. I loved fiction growing up that was all I read as a kid and very young teen. By the time I discovered non-fiction and my love for science around age 14 or so it was all over. Although recently getting back into some fiction. I just read this science fiction book "Diaspora" by Australian author Greg Egan and oh my god. Probably one of it not my favorite all time favorite work of fiction. Mind blowing science fiction. Not of the space opera variety either (which almost all science fiction these days is)... this is much more a "how you would do it" in the deep future kind of read. Although it is "hard" sci-fi, meaning incorporates known principles of chemistry and physics and this sort of thing, so I haven't entirely decamped non-fiction land. Absolutely incredible stuff though. Was completely stunned and blow away. And that whet my whistle for more fiction so I'm starting to probe some esoteric edges of fiction and finding some wonderful stuff. Although for the past couple months I've been on non-fiction again because I got a huge ass haul for like 23$ at a used bookstore. Working my way through all that, then probably back onto fiction.

I did two loads of laundry myself today. Feeling accomplished like a true G. This complex has a washer and dryer which is great, I'm used to going to laundromats

and "OG Kush" is just the name for a particular strain of weed...a pretty popular one that is now being crossed to other strains to give ones called "Jedi Kush" "Gogi OG" etc.

just read the summary on wikipedia - sounds pretty interesting. i've been on a science fiction spree for the last 3 or 4 years. lately i've gotten into reading short stories, as i can read them on my phone as free samples (can't finish a free sample of a book). so i've checked out a bunch of short story compilations from the library, as well as some sequels to great novels i read - Ringworld by Larry Niven (sequels not as good), and 2001 by Arthur C. Clarke
