you may be a hippie if......you spent the past half hour trying to scrub out a stain in the sink , only to see it melt , and realise it wasnt really there after all !

i've met alot of people who claim to be hippy who treat women like things.

 

You may be a Hippy if................you still believe your human.

 

Must not really be Hippies then.

You may be a hippy if all the clothes you're wearing were gifts and/or bought with gift cards.

 

Sadly there was that period in Hippy history where women were nothing more than chicks, or 'My old lady'.

But you have to understand that we were coming out of the Father Knows Best mentality of the 1950's. Women were meant to be in the kitchen and making babies.

But hippies were about the value of individuality, the value of the individual, and were experimenting with all kinds of new lifestyles, and thinking outside of the box. So while hippies started out that way----it was the hippies who were instrumental in promoting women's rights and getting people, including the chicks themselves to see their societal roles differently. It is no coincidence that womens lib movement, and feminism took off in the 60's. There was far more support then, than the hundred years or so of struggle for women before that.

 

If you have more drums than socks . . . . . . . . .you may be a hippy.

If you've ever put a flower is someone's hair . . . . . . . . .you may be a hippy.

If you have a favorite rock . . . . . . . . .you may be a hippy.

If you know the garden hater's words to the Garden Song . . . . . . . . .you may be a hippy.

If you asked your pet's opinion about the spay/neuter decision . . . . . . . . .you may be a hippy.

If their advice was helpful . . . . . . . . .you may be a hippy.

If 4:20 is the only time you are punctual . . . . . . . . .you may be a hippy.

If you've ever been in Olema . . . . . . . . .you may be a hippy.

If you child is named after a celestial object . . . . . . . . .you may be a hippy.

If answering "what's your favorite Dead song?" takes longer than five minutes . . . . . . . . .you may be a hippy.

 

lol thats my favorite one man.... it does take ages for me to tell my favorite dead song

 

I think these were my favorites.

 

you might be a hippy if...

...you've ever walked into a room with a clear purpose, and forgot what that was the second you got there.

...you've ever called your friend to ask him what day it was, because you fell asleep in the afternoon and woke up at night.

...you've ever pulled up a to a grocery counter with a cart full of opened chips, cookies, etc.

...the bottoms of your feet have bark.

...you take days off work for made-up holidays (Sublime-mas, Bob Dylan Day, George Carlin Day, etc.)

...you went into a convenience store and somebody bought you a toothbrush.

...you've ever spent half an hour thinking about a three-minute song (I'm so guilty of this, thanks to The Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream album. seriously, anyone reading this please let it be known that this is one of the greatest, and trippiest, albums ever made by any band. so many people hate on the Pumpkins, and I think that sucks, because that album is an astounding achievement. listen to it. love it. I know you will)

You may be a hippy if.....you know every word to, " A whiter shade of pale," and can explaine in great depth and detail the meaning in those lyrics.

 

You may be a Hippy if your screen name is erzebet1961.

 

You must be a hippy if you know of the band Blue Cheer (...or maybe a biker, or a biker hippy).

You are undoubtedly a hippy if you know who Owsley is and where Blue Cheer's name came from------you might even be a Haight Ashbury original...
