as several people i knew, back in the 1970's and 1980's ask of me, "should i buy a beta or, vhs unit." then in the 1980's they said."that laser disc thing of a jig is going to be the hot shit all the way up to 2090." well, i told them, "just sit back and wait out the battle between beta and vhs." "those units are too goddamn sky high in price." (like $900.00 back in 1980!) "once one of the two systems comes out the winner, the price will drop quite fast; in two or three years, a unit will cost around $150.00." after being told i was full of shit and a stupid fuck for not jumping on to this high-tech bandwagon right away. they went out and spent $ 900.00 on one of those two units. four years later i bought a vhs unit for $125.00. i still have it and it still works too! some of those same people, went out and spent $1,200 on a laser disc player a few years later. i warned them that, "look at CD's." "in ten years laser discs will be the size of CD's." yet, again, i was told i was full of shit. around 2000, blu-ray and hd-dvd came along. the same dumb fucks i knew back in 1980, went out and spent $900.00 on this new high-tech hot shit product. i waited untill one of the two system became the standered. for $70.00 i got a system to attach to my dvd player, and it allows me to play blu-ray or, dvd. moral of the story (you all knew this was coming, right?) some people, are old dumb fucks in their twenties and thirties with memory problems. they prove this by, turning around in their 40's and 50's and, making the same mistake yet again. now, if that is not very, very, early on set dementia, i don't know what is.
It's been five years now and it's almost my first high school reunion... :S I feel so old, where does the time go :S I've been yelling at those darn kids to get off my lawn too.. Kids these days, lol kidding
I refuse to get old. I'm 57 and still feel like I'm 17 even though my back hurts like crap when carrying my gear to gigs. and my younger workmates, they didn't know what a slide rule was. damn, time roll another one......
