    70s hijack:

You remember three distinct ways of turning on the TV / changing the channel - telling the youngest child to get up and push or pull a physical switch - later on, using a wired controller panel that was basically a bank of radio buttons, the wire of which was great for tripping up relatives coming in with TV food --- finally, the remote, which was also hunted for by the youngest child upon command.

You might be from the 80's if you've listened to a lot of Curtis Blow, Human League, Animotion, Nu Shooz, Grandmaster Flash, or REO Speedwagon

Okay, I'm gonna geek out a bit, but wasn't he brought back by those 5 faced creatures to be used as a trap for the Autobots? Then when it looked like he was killed again, we find out that he had been taken out of the ship just in time. Good thing too, since most of the autobots and decepticons were being infected with some sort of virus that turned them red and made them kill each other. Optimus comes and saves the day using the Matrix of Leadership to "light our darkest hour". Everyone is saved and Optimus is once again the leader of the Autobots.

Proof that I'm a child of the 80's. And have way too much free time on my hands.

    Close enough :)

The five faced creatures are the Quintessons, creators of the Transformers.

I'm gonna have to find that episode again (it was a two part episode..."The Return Of Optimus Prime" if you're interested :p)

Damn, I just remembered as well...somewhere on my drive I have the video for "The Touch", the song that played during the opening of the Matrix in the movie and the Optimus Prime Matrix scene. I'd upload it, but it's a bit too big :(

my friends are obsessed with Grease. GOD! PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!!!

i actually have 90% of the songs memorized. it's embarassing.

you may be a child of the 80's if the smurfs theme song makes you feel like a little kids again and you may still have a smurf figuring somewhere...

I had loads of Smurfs when I was little. I think they were handed down from my sister or something, because I'd never watched the TV show.

I found one again when I was about 15, around the time that several newspapers announced that Smurfs had become so rare that they were worth a lot of money. I was chuffed, until I read in the newspapers that since that report so many people had dragged their old collections out, and it turned out there were so many still around, they weren't worth a scabby penny :(

kc - I got the smurfs twice --- once in the 70s when thanks to being in a Francophone area we got hit with the "Schtroumpf" virus. Ten years later my brother ends up collecting em too thanks to the "Smurf" craze.

I ended up giving him my old collection which made him BMOC

I put it in there - I called it the pea soup baby crap color. I now remember it was indeed "harvest gold"

    Fondue pots and carob baby!

Some more stuff from the magical 80s:

    Jem and The Holograms
    The Snorks
My Little Pony (i had a highlighter pink MLP tshirt with glitter. It was so damn hot)

and, although these started in the 70s, they grew in might in the 80s: mullets and stubby shorts (usually skin tight and in poo brown or royal blue towelling)

Snorks? They were just an underwater version of the Smurfs, in my opinion. Those smurfing snorks can go smurf themselves!

Did any of you have the Littles cartoon growing up in the 80's? It was based on the Borrowers.

I had the book of the littles...were they the wee people with tails?

and snorks were just as cool as smurfs. We used to tape drinking straws to our heads and play snorks...it was great.
