Oooh, and Judy Blume was awesome. I'll never forget the day I started my period for the very first time. I was pretty upset about it. When I went into my room later on that day, I saw a copy of the book "Are You There God, It's Me, Margaret" lying on my bed. My mom had gotten it for me. I really enjoyed reading that. There was another book, hmm, I know the girl's name in it was Sally, but I can't remember the title of the book. There was a lot of talk about the holocaust in it...what was the name of that book?! And something Izzy? The one where the girl became friends with her neighbors who were of color? That was a good book too, taught about not following other people's prejudist mind sets.

I've read pretty much all of her adult stories as well. She's a fantastic writer. :)

Are You There God, Its Me Margaret was a great book. I think i still have a copy. The only Izzy book i can think of is Izzy Willy Nilly but i forgot who the author was, i dont think its by Judy Blume. I doubt its the one you mentioned though. it was about a girl getting into a car accident and having a leg amputated and all this boy drama. it was good though

That was also another one of my favorites. It was sad, but I still requested it to be read to me quite often as a child.

Love You Forever is a book I read to my kids a lot. It makes me teary-eyed every time I read it though. :(

Hmm, yeah, the book I'm thinking about wasn't the book you're speaking of. I could have sworn it the girl's name in it was Izzy, but maybe I'm wrong?

I was as much of a bookworm as a kid as I am today, so I had plenty of faves:

The Animals of Farthing Wood series - By Colin Dan, I forget how many there were, but there were alot
Other Colin Dan animal books - Err, the two Sammie' books, about Cats, the one with these dogs that lived by the sea...there was another I forget now.
Land of the Faraway Tree - Oh, I loved this series, with Moonface :D
    The Very Hungry Caterpillar
    Mog
    Chronicles of Narnia
Roald Dahl - Almost every one of them, he was ace!
My Cat Loves Carboard Boxes - I remember little of it, but apparently I took it out of the library hundreds of times.
The Kitten that Couldn't get Down- As above, a kitten that liked to climb, then cimbed so high he couldn't get down, he could only climb up, you see.
Watership Down- SO very, very good, I re-read it recently.

There were so many more, but my memory fails me at the moment.

That is my favorite children's book, as an adult.

As a child, it is no contest....
Easily my absolute favorite book as a little kid was, "Where the Wild Things Are."

I already mentioned the first one WTWTA, but had to say that when I was nine or ten I read the chronicles of narnia, and they were enchanting. They whisked me away to a magical place and I got lost in them whenever I read them.
In grade two, I read every book I could find about dinosaurs, and could have told you the stats and name of practically any of them..... The abundant input made for some pretty wild dreams, like when a T Rex ate my teacher..... aaaah, the joys of dreaming.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was a fan of The Very Hungry Catapillar :)
by far my favorite to be read to me when I was very little.
My favorite when I was old enough to read myself was The Worst Witch series by Jill Murphy.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Also, anyone remember A Wrinkle in Time?
