“One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I’ll never know.” - Groucho Marx
“If you love somebody, let them go. If they return, they were always yours. If they don't, they never were.”
no clue who says it but my favorite is definitely you made your bed, you lie in it. It is true to 99.9% of problems in people's lives

"The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question, is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, "Hey - don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride..." And we... kill those people. "We have a lot invested in this ride. Shut him up. Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account and my family. This just has to be real." Just a ride. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok. But it doesn't matter because: It's just a ride. And we can change it anytime we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money. A choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love, instead, see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money that we spend on weapons and defences each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace. Thank you very much, you've been great." - Bill Hicks
"Society is a system, that system is our enemy. When you are inside, you look around, what do you see? Business men, teachers, lawyers, carpenters, the very minds of the people we are tying to save, but until we do, these people are still part of the system, and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand most of these people are not ready to be unplugged, and many of them are so unurged so hopelessly dependent on the system that they will fight to protect it."
Courage is Being Scared to Death, but Saddling Up Anyway! Thanks John Wayne! I have this on my wall in my Barn and I read it Every Morning! Believe Me! Been There! Done That!
you can't expect a rock to be soft to sit on, but you can bring a cushion. " you can't roller skate in a buffalo herd, but you can have fun if you've a mind to" (roger miller i think it was, not sure i remember the name correctly) it is not uncommon to become a slave to one's worship of freedom, (i got that one from kalil gebran's the prophit, which little known, is based at least in part on the life of abdu'l baha) which is a state of mind. security is a mythical beast. caution is not without value. as it may extend life enough to enjoy more of it. (though it can also be overdone, which i suspect myself of having)
how is a work ethic, not trading freedom for security? at any rate "its not the little green pieces of paper that are unhappy" - hitchiker's guide to the universe - douglas adams.
“First, you do what you have to do… Then, you do what you want to do.” (My advice to my children, which is quoted back to me every Fathers’ Day)
"out numbered; yes, out maneuvered; maybe, outclassed; never" - no idea where i furst herd it, had a button with that on it though, once upon a time. "no matter where you go, there you are" - from bucharoo bonasai in the 8th dimention. (and i'll bet more people know the quote, them where its from) "you can call yourself a bowl of oatmeal, but you'll still look funnier then hell, sitting on the kitchen table with milk on your head" - this is from the anthology "tuff's voyaging" - by george r.r. martin and spoken by havaland tuff, in response to something celese wan had said regarding qualifications.
