I have pure O OCD, so yeah. I have intrusive thoughts sometimes. Freaks me the hell out. I was worried it was scitzophenia for a solid year, then I got so anxiety ridden I went to a theripist.

I actually had a whole long post planned out.
But no-one here is really admitting to even having a "mind's voice", let alone be prepared to post about it.

So, I'm still holding back on posting it, as I believe the ridicule (albeit probably unspoken) would be ginormous... :blush5:

This subject is a minefield. :) If you want to really talk about it, you need to wear your Kevlon.

Part of the difficulty is that there is a wide variety of different experiences. As soon as you start talking about a "mind's voice" you open the door to all kinds of experiences that may or may not be like your own.

As soon as I saw the original post in this thread I thought about my own most pervasive experience with a "voice" in my head - telepathy. I've talked about my telepathic experiences in these forums plenty of times, and I'm sure you can imagine the kinds of shit I've had to eat for that. ;)

So when you talk about a "mind's voice," that's what pops into my head. It may not be what you're experiencing - but on the other hand, it may be. So that's my interest in the subject.

i must be confused as to what you mean by a "mind's voice." the only voice in my mind is the inside-my-head vocalization of my own thoughts. if that's not what a mind's voice is then maybe i really don't have one.

What I mean is, like a Tourette's voice.
Sort of when your gran walks into the room and asks "How do I look?"
And you think "well I'm not gonna bone you, am I?"

Or you ring up an IT company's customer service dept for the 5th time
and they go "I'm sorry you're having difficulties.."
And you think "no you're not, bellend. If people didn't have difficulties, you'd be on the dole, alcoholic, and possibly eating out of bins..".

That sort of thing, but I was actually thinking of something a little different.

i don't know, i think things like that, but i don't think it's like a tourette's voice. those are just the things that i think but know better than to say out loud.

I've had experiences where I'm thinking or reading or working on something, and suddenly a word or phrase pops into my head that in some way concerns what i'm doing or thinking about. Years ago I thought that was my subconscious mind. But that begs the question: Of what does our subconscious mind consist, and how does it work? Nowadays, because of years of telepathic relationships and spiritual experiences, I'm more likely to think it's the telepathic voice of a particular person who has demonstrated and confirmed the reality of our telepathic communication. Or sometimes it's the telepathic voice of one of her telepathic cohorts - or possibly a disembodied spirit.

It's just that if you're trying to figure out where this "mind's voice" comes from, or what it is in reality, you're delving into extremely complex issues that probably can't be fully resolved. The best you can hope to do is to spend a lifetime finding out what this experience means to you, and maybe to a few other people who are similar to you in this way.

Yep l, my mind does this a lot, nothing to worry about. Thoughts are just that thoughts. Do you get panicked when these things sneak up in your mind?

    this^

we're all assholes, deep down inside of us. we all think terrible things from time to time, and we know not to vocalize them because while we might have thought them in passing fancy, we don't feel that way all the time.

How dare you say that about me! :D

The interesting thing in my case is that there are certain people who know ALL my thoughts, no matter how sick, nasty, or deranged. It makes for an interesting interpersonal dynamic. ;)

    It’s a survival response :2thumbsup:

We’re all out for ourselves which has led to the old axiom “all love is unrequited”

we're not all assholes all the time though. thats why our voice is internal. those who use it externally are actual assholes!

If you love someone enough, you can love them even if they channel their inner asshole. ;)

:D But before that's possible, you need to love your own asshole. :) Maybe take photos of it and erect an altar in your living room. Burn incense and say prayers and shit. :)
