Does the analogy between life and dreams hold up? In dreams everything is an illusion, symbolic, personal, full of meaning and psychological. The difference between that and the awakened state may be less than what we think. In fact, it may be just what we think wherein lies the difference. Repression and manifestation are the same thing. The world is full of the very imperfections that we deny in ourselves. The externality of relations is an illusion.
I often think to myself that my life is nothing more than an elaborate dream... and that nothing around me is real. Usually while going through a rough state of paranoia... but then I wake up and slap myself. OUCH... definitely not a dream.
the point is that the word dream is misleading if it comes with the implication that the experience is "less real" than that of our "waking" life. all is real, all is illusion, etc. language loses its meaning and begins to overlap as you see more of the world around and within you. if these fate lines (string theory) exist, then they too are born of the one mind. the paradoxical balance of seperation and unity, manifested as the mysterious om, seems to be that which is at the center of all that is. and still this is all just words, mental images, feelings. a pointless chicken and egg riddle. all is.
Why the hell would a solipsist make a thread in order to convince their dream scenario world that they're just dreaming, whose dream scenario world in turn is dreaming about a solipsistic thread on hipforums trying to tell them all they're just dreaming? Fuck i need sleep really bad
This is the only reality I know. Whether it's "real" or a dream my life is not impacted, so I hardly see the significance of making that distinction. Care to enlighten me?
You all should watch "Waking Life" It's a great movie that explores the relationship between life, so-called reality, and lucid dreams.
