Goddamn man, OK fine, read the Gilgamesh cycle and you will see a mythological typicallity in the very beginnings of the creation myth....these elements were carried into the Genisis account, but with Yahewist editing to reflect a single god at play rather than a pantheon....this can go on, like I said, with the different priesthoods adapting the myths for their axe grinding....not going into all those specifics, but its there. Anyone who looks at the Hebrew myths and applies the proper mythological methods, you will see the same elements, though shadowed, as you do in all other of the worlds core myths.....honestly though, i waste little time on the Hebrew myths...I spend my time in study of Indo-European myths. Though i do enjoy comparative studies. I am sure your fragile belief will still dismiss this, it has no room for otherwise.
I also was under the impression that the old testament is based on earlier stories from Babylonia, mutch of it seems to be straight out of the Sumerian story of 'The epic of Gilgamesh'.( I thought this was common knowledge these days). Perhaps the old testament is largely unchanged ... i don't know about that, but the question remains; how original was it in the first place? Anyone can google it.
Tim Callahan's Secret Origins of the Bible is an excellent source on the subject....below is an excerpt from a review, citing parts of the book: http://72.14.205.104/search?q=cache...origins+of+the+bible&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl=us
This bit about the flood is particularly compelling: http://www.ancienttexts.org/library/mesopotamian/gilgamesh/tab11.htm
And my point is, your whole argument is pointless!!! Not only is your lengthy propaganda irrelivent, You EMBELLISED your truth buy claiming proof "word for word" when only a small fraction of the old testiment was discovered. Did anyone even directly target any of these books of the old testiment before my post about genesis? Oh, the irony is laughable! You are caught embellishing while trying to disprove it! These books ARE embellised, religion is embellishment!! The vast number of christian denominations proves this fact. But I do thank you for your attempted misdirection of this thread, it is a fine example of typical religious/christian strategy.
... Taps the Mic ... Excuse me. Guys... I'd like to point out something. Although Zeitgeist does an extremly good job of compltly pullverising Christianity, I don't know why they do this. Because what the last part of the movie suggests will occur, and the book of revelation closely paralell, in my humble lil ole opinion. A ONE WORLD GOVT, WITH ONE ARMY? RFID CHIPS? this sounds like the Beast and the mark of the beast to me. Christianity shoudn't be abolished it should aim to do it's job, which is uncover the truth cause for anybody who takes genuine interest... it doesn't take a degree in rocket science to see that A. Jesus' life is completly misunderstood and for the majority of people a big "MYSTERY"... and B. the churches are part of the problem right now not the solution. To anybody who wishes to start arguing me... one word for you. CRUSADES If it was a noble and good mission once great. People tend not forget about ethnic cleansing though. Let's make no mistake about it do we think Hitler was Evil... (shakes head yes) ... Count Raymond IV, Godfrey, Peter the Hermit and all those other nut jobs that started the crusade enterprise are no better. Now I still consider myself to believe in gospel, and a follower of chirst... but certainly not the same way a said "christian" SHOULD... so I also consider myself quite HERETIC. And I strongly suggest other chirstians follow suit.
